Would past geocache finds on a DeLorme page count, or would this be some sort of “contest” cache with a start date some time in the future?
As pcfrog indicated, the stats “page” (forum topic) could just be modified to add a column to track this for those who are into it. Someone would just have to place a cache and only give the coordinates out to folks they could verify found a cache on all the pages…

Check this… tap the Menu item/virtual button in the lower left hand corner. Go to Option->List Options. In the drop down box next to “Extra info:”, select “Waypoint”.
I think the default for this setting on a new install may be “None”. Note that this cannot be a download problem, because the waypoint codes have to be in the Palm somewhere (Cachemate uses them for determining uniqueness).

I am also seeing this on my home desktop running Firefox 1.0.6. But I also thought I saw the new style profiles work in Firefox on another machine… so maybe the problem would go away if you upgraded to a newer version of Firefox?

Kris, it is manual in that you need to be manually added to the Brewmeister’s list of WI cachers that he grabs the stats for.
He used to try to keep this list updated, adding new cachers when he saw them logging finds or when they joined the WGA, but I think he gave up as the numbers grew. I’m sure he’ll add you if you contact him… here is a link to his geocaching.com profile:

Uncle_Fun has removed the offending HTML code from the two cache pages. He wasn’t really happy about doing it, and he actually removed more stuff than he needed to, but it everything should be back to normal in Pluckerland. I just got a Pocket Query and did my normal Plucker run of the 500 caches nearest to Mke and it did not freeze.
As far as what he had wrong… basically there were multiple HTML table tags left open and some tag properties were started with a ” (quote) but were not closed with one. This is not something you are going to do accidentally if you are writing your own HTML. I think the “The Selector” tool he used to add some icons to his cache pages either gave him bad HTML, or something bad happened when he pasted the code into the existing cache description.
Thanks for fixing this Dave!

Agreed. But if you even want to avoid scrolling enter the first letter of the cache name or waypoint (i.e. write it or hit the letter if you’ve got a keyboard). This will jump you down to the first cache that starts with this letter. Keep entering letters to get even closer. (It helps if you remove the GC from the waypoint code.)
I *heart* this feature.
Heat it up with a heat gun/hair dryer, then use a razor blade scraper to get most of it off. Use starting fluid/ether (or WD40, if that is all you have) to loosen up and remove the remaining glue. Once the ether comes out, put the heat gun away so you don’t start a fire!
Removed my 2004 sticker a couple weeks ago to make room for the 2006 sticker using this method and it took less than 5 minutes.
The “sticker shield” is technically illegal, but I use something similar on my motorcycles because it would be nearly impossible to remove a sticker from these highly curved plastic shields without damaging them. I stick the sticker to a piece of clear vinyl, then tape this to the windshield with a bunch of clear packing tape.

I found out which ones were problematic by trial and error (it was painful :mad . You can run Plucker from the command line if you have Python installed… and I thought this would show me exactly which files it was choking on, but it does not fail when run this way. So the failure only occurs when running the GUI Plucker Desktop.
I also saw the same thing where the “bad” cache pages didn’t seem to cause problems if the total number being plucked was small.
Sounds like the world would be a better place (at least for Plucker users) if Uncle_Fun would just modify his cache pages… I’ll send him a note and see if he’d be willing to change them.

Does it always stop responding at exactly the same spot when spidering? If so, then yes I am also seeing this problem. I tried reinstalling Plucker and changing all kinds of Plucker settings. I tracked it down to a couple cache pages that have some “questionable” HTML content, two in particular that are always troublesome are:
GCPGTE – Whitnallgps’s 1,000th by Uncle_Fun
GCMA42 – Alan Kulwicki Memorial Cache by Uncle_FunNote that this problem only happens on my desktop machine, not my laptop. So either it is a problem with Plucker that only appears on certain machines, or has something to do with the configuration of certain machines. I do have Python installed on the desktop machine, which could be contributing to the grief.
So basically I have no fix for you Brian other than to not include caches that Plucker chokes on.
BTW, I also recommend Cachemate over Plucker. It is a lot easier to find the caches you are looking for in Cachemate (you can sort the list a couple ways, enter a letter to skip down in the cache listing, and do searches)… plus you can mark your finds in the Palm. When I get home, I just do a hotsync then go into GSAK and get a listing of those I found for easy logging… much better than writing your finds down a scrap of paper.

Way to go Anne!
With all your success geocaching in the snow, you must be one of those snowshoe bunnies that sheds their brown hair and grows a warm white coat of fur for winter caching? Funny, you always struck me as looking more like one of those domesticated designer blonde bunnies, but I must have been wrong.

Been there, done that. Team Rabid Badgers, consisting of some Wisconsin folks and an Australian, nearly won Game 10 way back in April 2002.
The thing about geodashing is that waypoints are randomly selected… so usually they end up somewhere uninteresting and on private property. It was fun for awhile, but after a couple months I got tired of asking farmers permission to walk in their fields.
Occasionally a waypoint is placed on a very interesting spot, or someone has a real adventure getting to one. I still get the game results email each month that has the “best of” the trip reports filed during the month and it is always an entertaining read…
BTW, if you want to get in on it, you are better off joining an existing team or trying to form a team with people you know from other parts of the country/world. A team of all Wisconsin people probably would have very hard time winning given the way the points assigned.
You can use the UBB tag
This is described on the UBB Code Explained page, which is linked to in a couple places in the forums. We specifically don’t allow HTML in the forums for security (and other) reasons.

I agree with hogrod… it sounds like you are losing your cookies. If you weren’t accepting them in the first place, you’d probably have more trouble than what you are reporting with this site and with other sites like geocaching.com. So I’d look at the Firefox cookie expiration settings… and if you are still having trouble contact me via email.
And yes, depending on how you bookmark the forums, the script that determines what “light bulbs” to light based on the time of your last visit (stored in the cookie) won’t be run. Basically, there will be NO light bulbs lit if you are having this problem. If you are going to bookmark the forums, you can use this redirect URL that will work properly:

1450 coins were minted, and about 1425 were actually sold. The extra coins are being held until we’re sure everybody got their coins and they are in good shape (there were a small number that had issues with the engraved tracking number). At this point, it looks like the WGA will not sell any of the extras… they may be used for giveaways at future events, etc.
