Hey, when did Jeremy shave his head and start doing videos for Garmin?

Hmm… do I really look that ugly and have ears that big? 😀 💡 Maybe I could club this guy on the head, assume his identity, sneak into Garmin HQ, and leave with a ton of equipment (Oregons and Colorados for all! :))?

in reply to: Nominations Sought For 2009 WGA Board #1899312

    Bump.

You have less than 2 weeks left to nominate fellow members for the Board of Directors. So far we’ve received 75 nominations for 25+ people. (Amazingly this is not really a lot, as 100+ nominations in a year is the norm.) Many well qualified individuals have turned down their nomination, but there are still a few folks thinking it over.

Maybe too busy/lazy to read whole posts too? 😉 🙂 I’ve bolded the important part you want to read…

And I’ll discuss with the Board whether we want to provide new logo gifs for cache pages before the website itself is switched over. Note we will probably be changing the existing gifs to be the new logo, so cache owners will not have touch their cache pages to get the new logo.

Seriously, I’m fairly confident the old cache page banner gifs will go to the new logo, but I’m not sure when.

Sweet, but where is the new logo .gif. I can’t find it where I thought the old ones were. In fact, I can’t find the old ones. Thought they were in the wiki.

The old ones are here in the Wiki:

    http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Wiki&pagename=Help%20Spread%20The%20Word

If someone can think of a good two or three word title (Cache Page Logos?), I’ll throw a link to this Wiki page in the Main Menu block as people seem to have a lot of trouble finding it.

These posts came in DURING the time I was splitting the forum topic in the Candidate’s Corner forum… I put them here for reference because there was no way I could recombine them again.

in reply to: Our New Logo #1899757

A topic has been split from this one and placed in the General forum. Please, if you are not a candidate for the Board in 2009, keep your posts regarding the logo there. Thanks!

This topic was “split” out of the one in the Candidates Corner. If you are not a candidate for the Board in 2009, please post your comments/opinions/questions here. Thanks!

in reply to: Camping at the Campout #1899505

So far, only 1 (now 2) folks have contacted me about campers in the group campsites. I think last time we were there we had maybe 3 or 4 campers of the small travel trailer / pop-up variety.

    @LightningBugs Mum wrote:

So they next question would be: are there any kind of hook-ups at the group sites or would those of us on wheels expect to be dry camping? I assume the latter, but thought I would ask.

No water and no electrical hook ups. You can’t use a generator but you can use the lovely pit toilets. The group campsites are basically large grassy fields that need to accommodate all the tents and cars (there are no parking lots) plus any trailers we allow.

So if anyone else is inclined to bring a camper into the WGA group campsites instead of getting a spot in the family campground (to rough it with the unwashed masses… unwashed because there are no showers in the group sites either :)), please let me know. There is still a third group campsite available that the WGA could reserve if we think we are going to have a large number of campers.

Still need the replacement with owner permission option on the submit report page.

That was my goof… I accidentally removed the 5 point replacement option when I got rid of the 2 point maintenance option.

Also, I think all the linkages are now in place to accept LCG reports for Cache Rescue mission completions. (MY fingers are crossed… :))

I think people are waiting for the okay to submit the reports, Jeremy had to change some things to reflect the rule changes, correct?

The Jan/Feb lonely caches have been loaded, and everything should be good to go for submitting reports other than ones that involve Cache Rescue missions. The Cache Rescue piece should be completed this afternoon (I need to deliver a database change before it will work).

OK Timberline Echoes, the annoying red flag should be gone (finally… sorry ). There was another way for this indication to get stuck on that I wasn’t aware of. If this happens to anyone else in the future (it shouldn’t unless there is a database problem), please shoot me a PM so I can get rid of it.

I also made a change to improve the email notification that you can get when someone sends a new PM. The name of the person sending the PM is in the email message subject, so you can’t send someone a PM then delete it to virtually and anonymously mess with someone. 🙂

I modified the database and the false indication should have gone away. There is a small hole where one database table can be updated and another not, leading to this problem. (This happens to about 2 people per year… aren’t you lucky? :))

i have recieved my coins before christmas as promised. thank you and have a merry christmas. w-way

I think (nearly) everyone got their coins before Christmas, even with the later than expected shipment. Having access to all the delivery confirmation numbers, I spot checked a few orders from California and Washington and all were delivered either Monday, yesterday or today.

Next year (or whenever the next WI coin is produced), we promise not to cut it so close!

The comment under the title of this forum is ambiguous.

Is the camp out actually going to be at High Cliff, or is it being discussed?

I’m not sure what is ambiguous about the forum description.

In any case, the location and date for the Geo-Campout were announced in the last (November) WGA email newsletter (you read it cover to cover, right Marc :)). I’ve posted a copy of that small article in this forum in case others missed it.

It will be at High Cliff… we’ve got permission from the park manager and group campsites and shelters have been reserved. We intend to complete detailed planning soon after the election of the new Board and the in-person Board meeting in February. At that time we’ll probably start accepting registrations, have a list of activities / schedule, etc.

in reply to: Who is 9Key? #1899055

    @Team Honeybunnies wrote:

9Key is indeed from Texas. I think that membership in the WGA includes your name popping up on the recent logs, I believe if you’ve linked your membership to your gc.com profile it includes out of state finds. Jeremy could probably answer that more clearly.

Correct, if a user provides us with a link to their gc.com profile, we will pick up out of state logs for that person in the Recent Logs module. It doesn’t matter if they live out of state / are not a member, are inactive, etc.

It would be easy enough to change the module to exclude the logs from certain groups of users if things get distracting. (And you can always look at just Wisconsin finds using the filter feature.)
