Congrats on a bunch of finds! 😀
I’ll take your few quality huntin’land hides over a stop sign/guardrail anyday!
There are fewer cachers in your area, thus fewer finders, especially in winter.
But don’t let that discourage you from hiding some more! Northern Wisconsin geocaching is a whoooooole other experience, which I don’t get to enjoy often enough!WTG! 😀
Plus micros aren’t as interesting, or as easy, to “walk away”. They do go missing, but losing a $20 ammo can, or a $50 fake rock, stinks! 😡
WTG, Sherry! 8)
WTG on 5K!! 😀
A decade of cache memories! WTG! 😀
Oh, great!! Now I’ll be spending all night changing my Attributes! 😡
Posting the wrong number brings fast results!
Thanks gr & Prez! 😀
Yes. And I believe it’s 366 days between finds. A few cachers watch some of the high D/T caches and intentionally wait for 1 year! Of course, they have no control over another cacher ruining their “best laid plans”! That’s part of the ‘game’!
This is the kind of question where I would seek input from members/BOD members, and possibly out-of-state cachers.
We go on the honors system of submitting LCG/CR finds and, other than a bit of “sniping”, it works quite well. I would prefer to police our own state by offering the LCG and CR to WGA members, as exclusivity encourages membership growth, to some extent.
I’m hoping that some of the new members attend the LCG Event to find out more about how the game adds to the quality of the Wisconsin caching experience, as well as keeping the geotrash out of the woods. As for soliciting out-of-state friends, I was wondering why there ARE out-of-state friends! Is the WGA the “place to belong” for some online cachers? It’s good to see, and something to keep in mind before hitting that ‘Submit’ button on the kneejerk reaction posts! There are the Groundspeak Forums, which I rarely visit, to keep us informed of issues across state lines, too.
An interesting question, that breeds more questions, HP2! And hard to pick pro or con without more information (I don’t like straddling the fence on an issue, but I don’t like to commit to an answer without full knowledge of the finer points!). I’ll think on it some more, and add comments if a light bulb goes on.
Because they qualify as being in need of a revisit by a cacher, to see if they still exist. The LCG Administrator decides the cutoff date to get approx. 500 caches on the list. Once it is on the list, it can be claimed by anyone finding it for the next 2 monthes; not JUST the first to visit it.
Some of the best caches in Wisconsin are Lonely!! 😀
And congrats on picking up the geotrash 33 times, too! 😀
WTG! I’ll have to put my brains to that cache someday! 😀
WTG on 1K! 😀
