Not sure who that would be, but I believe that bugsmasher69’s is “TNLN SL”. And it was a PT Cruiser with a window TB decal. 🙂
Back in the 50’s and 60’s, the premiere cattle show in America was held in Waterloo, Iowa.
In the late 60’s, a group of showmen in Wisconsin decided that “America’s Dairyland” should have a cattle show.
The result was “World Dairy Expo”, the largest international show in the world, held in Madison. (Waterloo fizzled out)
With the right dreamers, and the right “backbones”, Wisconsin should be able to host the “World Geocaching Expo”, an international Event for the geocaching world! In all honesty, geocaching is still in it’s infancy.
But maybe now is the time to question how this dream can become a reality, and let the Wisconsin Geocaching Association put it’s name in the history books. The West Bend Cache Bash is proof that geocachers will come with the right marketing approach.
Why host an existing Event when we have the talent to host our own?
Perhaps in the future, the BOD could appoint a sub-committee of members with expertise on the issue, that could pool their knowledge. Cachers profiles sometimes list their chosen field, or word-of-mouth also works in picking an odd number of members to preview an issue before presenting it for a vote.
This frees up the BOD to handle current issues and not get bogged down in after-the-fact banter.
And the sub-committee members aren’t obligated to a term in office.
Most of the Associations that I belong to ask people to volunteer on these sub-committees, which is overseen by 1 Board member.Just food for thought, since I wasn’t involved in logo voting or design.
Thanks to everyone that voted their mind on this “Multiphobia” question. The point spread was fairly even and generated some good input.
Multis have been moved up higher on our list, since passing the 1K mark. They also appear more often on the LCG.
But the most interesting thing that we learned from this thread was that the multis are usually constructed to highlight an area of geological or historical interest. They may take more time, but we consider it time well spent!
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the kudos, everyone. As I related to s/s, November was more fun caching-wise. Less snow and alot more scenic finds!
We are enjoying a quick start to January, but that’s probably about all it will be… a quick start!
Thanks again to all. See you on the 17th. 😀Happy 1/2 K! 😀
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!
I did notice that the name “SAGASU” was the only thing on the log sheet. No date, no time. Of course, he did get an FTF last year without signing anything on the sheet! 🙂
The cachemobile has 219,000 after todays run. It could “go” anytime but it hangs in there!
But it looked like he got 2 wet feet out of his FTF adventure. That’s the best thing about an FAD! Let him explain what it’s all about if he is confronted before sunrise. Maybe he’s a vampire? 😯
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 🙂 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Merry Christmas! Grabbed one at sunrise this morning, as a gift to myself!
Six below to start and end the cache day.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 😀 🙂 🙂 🙂
😯 The cat ran under the bed after hearing this!! Probably won’t see her until the 5 a.m. feeding! (No) thanks for sharing!
Got an FTF this morning. SWEET! 😀
I think I’ll seek a cache! 😯
In reading this thread, “Cache Replacement” is a sticky issue. But this year was a somewhat different year, with many caches missing or straying from flooding in June.
s/s comments on “The Flashlight” is the perfect example… we both wondered what in the world the other one was doing! And we both followed the game rules correctly!
The other issue on “replacement” is the situation that presents itself at the cache site. Sometimes a cache is “missing” and needs replacement (or not!). Other times, a damaged cache is present but needs replacement, such as cracked film canister, no lid, broken lid, no longer waterproof, moldy interior. Sometimes GZ has been compromised and is no longer there, such as a tree that was cut down, brush removal, even road construction.
If a LCG player is 150 miles from home, and can’t instantly contact the owner, the player makes a judgement call. Sometimes right and sometimes wrong.
Getting a questionable cache fixed is the issue, and I believe, when in doubt, it should go to “Cache Rescue” rather than be replaced. As a fairly new player, too many tweaks to any game can discourage play instead of encouraging it. The basic rules are still very good and make for a fun time and great adventures. We will leave it in the hands of the “powers that be” to make any modifications and simply play by the newest rules.
The Lonely locations are the best part! 🙂
