I am looking at leaving old comic books that I collected in college. I have no use for them and I can’t find a buyer. I plan on puting the more valuable ones in the ones I place. Toys from the dollar store, my daughter likes to leave plastic lizards, plastic sticky worms, and army men.

I would have to say go for it. As long as their not errotic stories. Not that I would mind those but their are kids out there that could find these. I really like the book idea though, so I will have to keep that in mind.

How about a simple rule about treasures. Put something in that you would like to find! That would be the best idea I could come up with. I am leaving a wake of small plastic toys because of my daughters but I will be upping the ante as soon as I get the hang of this whole thing.

Some observations from a newbee. I only have 7 finds so I think all would considerme a newbee. I think the biggest problem I have found so far is not the size, or location of a cache. I like finding them all. It is the condition of the caches that bothers me. I mean if people with over 200 or 700 finds can’t find it and the last 7 groups that have looked for it can’t find it what is the condition of the cache. Also if your logbook is wet and cann’t be written on and this has been posted. I mean what about the maintainance of the caches we have out there? If I find a magnetic one in a parking lot I would just be as happy but I know the ones I like best are the ones made for a family. Ones that have a treasure to trade with at the end for my 3 yr old daughter. I personaly want to try the puzzle one and see what those are like. I am just in this to have fun and so far from a newbee point of view that is just what I am having.

I am sorry about this but someone has to say it. Don’t tell me the power went out. Hey if I was a comedian would I be here?

He has agreed to not take any travel bugs out. I talked to him about that. He might do some basic trading but knowing him he will just leave some goodies. Also he his very computer illiterate. Right now I am printing out pages of lat, longs and he is entering them by hand. This way I can keep up with his finds. I am logging in his finds so I can filter them out later otherwise I am going to have a lot of trouble later on.

I don’t know if 10 speeds exist anymore, but I do know that 15 speeds do. I ride one into work EVERY day no matter what. I am more dependable than the mailman. I mean it is only a mile into work so why use the car.

Ok EnergySaver I guess the gloves are comming off. I will make it a point to make it down that way and see if my mental powers are up to your challanges. I think I will go for the NiTroll’s Challange first and work my way from there. I will have to see how many I can get in one day . What is the record by the way?

in reply to: Not doing so well #1748592

The ones around there are not to hard for me. I mean I have ridden a 10 speed bike to those areas in the far past. They are practically in my back yard. My Dad and I know these areas very well. But it was a great day for family and finds.

How about an open season on kids that cut thru your backyard? Sounds like this person has a few issues.

Ok I found the plug. I didn’t even know that it was there. I thought it was for the batteries. I will go out and get a cable as soon as I can. Then all I need is the program to download the waypoints. This is getting easier by the min.

Well all, I am starting to get the hang of this GPS thing. It just takes a long time to hand enter in all the corrodinates. I can’t download on this model. Well so much for having it easy. Thanks for all the encouragement. I think I am going to love this. (Indiana Jones theme song).

As a First Responder I would really not recommend not drinking water. Americans as a whole are dehydrated anyways. I mean we are supposed to drink 1/2 our body weight in oz of water everyday. That mean that if you weight 200 lb you have to drink 100 oz of water each day. This is before taking in to consideration any activity. Now how many of us really do this on a daily basis?

I grew up hunting in the woods with my dad. Now I understand that things are a LOT easier for men. We would take a roll of TP inside a plastic bag. Now we also hunted on private land so we were able to leave it behind and the TP would quickly go back to the earth. I mean I hunted it the same spot for years. If on public land I think that we should clean up our TP but for the other job men can be the dogs we are. I have no idea for how women manage in the woods so I can’t help there.

    Hey EnergySaver,
That sounds like a great idea. I would love to know a little about all of this before I get a unit. My wife thinks that I am a little nuts but that is what she loves about me. I also think that my 3yr old would love to go walk with me. At least it would run a little energy off her. Let me know hoe to get a hold of you and we could set somthing up.
