Congratulations to BruseS from MO. for being the first out of state team to finish the series!!!!

I’m guessing that county and city parks will adopt this same policy? Most of my caches are in the above mentioned types of parks so it might take awhile for the policy to catch up with me. I’ll do my best to comply when it happens, though i’m hoping for the grandfather clause!

As soon as the cache gets it’s last glitch ironed out it will come on line! It is named Washington D.C.

Our team is still in the middle ages when we go. All we do is either print the pages or just write a few notes on a piece of paper, then manually enter the coordinates in the gpsr and off we go. Getting there is half the fun, and some of the things we’ve seen doing it this way have been very unique. The pay off is the time I get to spend with Vincetti and the sights we see along the way. It may take us longer to find or get to the caches, but we still enjoy it very much!

Team Socko, Vincetti, and Mel got thier name from Adam (Vincetti). He had just learned of our namesakes (the first two names)in a history class and thought it would be a cool name. (The original holders of these names were put to death for a murder it was later learned they did not commit!) Our spelling of the first two names is not original, (I changed it slightly to try and avoid offending anyone). Mel was added for Mary’s name by combining her three initials.

Unfortunately, after an hour of being interviewed, what showed up in the article was not what I had hoped for. Overall, I think it gives the impression that geocachers are kooks! At least he made it a point to mention that caches are not buried. This is the 4th. time I have been interviewed or filmed involving this sport, and this is by far the worst spin it has taken.I think I will have to be more selective in the future. For my self, I am sorry if I contributed to that image, especially the part where being a fanatic is mentioned!

Getting back to the original topic, I think I will still do the study, at least for my benifit. If anyone else gets something out of this, all the better. Anyone interested in helping is still invited to contact me. Thanks to Cachecows and Bukosky for thier input on this matter.

If things go the way I hope, I will be purchasing several of these radios and make them available to people at geocaching functions. I am also looking into the purchase of a repeater for these radios. I’ll decide what to do depending upon the response I get from this posting.

I would love to help in the planning, since I have never pulled off an event of my own, and would like to some day. Count me in one way or the other!

I’ve had a VHF license for more than 20 years now and according to my license, as a corporation or organization, you can have members of that entity use the radio under your liscence. That is what I intend to do in this circumstance. If I can get permission to use the WGA as the organization license holder with my name as the actual holder, anyone using the radios will fall under my lisence. If not, I can apply for the new license under my team name and see what happens.

I’ll be there! I’ve been interested in seeing more of these sites since Thorson brought me to the one in downtown Waukesha last year!
