But wait, these are even better (from gc.com)
Google Maps=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%lat+%lon+(%code-%name)&hl=en
Google Satellite=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%lat+%lon+(%code-%name)&hl=en&t=kThere was a recent post on the geocaching.com forum with pictures and steps that work for both Garmin Mapsource routes and Magellan Mapsend routes. This is the best description on how to do it I’ve seen. Requires GSAK.
I prefer the ‘second method’ as outlined in
the post.
If they don’t have plans for it already:
Next Phase – Connection to PDA (like PPC via cable or integrated) so that media (movies, pictures, sounds) can be presented based upon GPSr detected location.
Next Phase – Cell Phone/WAP/GPSr integration so same media can be sucked out of the air, can be dynamic so special activities/deals/commercials etc. can also be presented.
Next Phase – Feedback on tour (ie stayed longer here, bought lunch there) AKA big brother

It’s ‘free’. I signed up last night so I could email the article to the cache-mistress of some of the caches in question.
But… this morning, the Journal related junk mail started to roll in. I suspect I also put her on the ‘list’ too by emailing the article to her.
Right now I wish I didn’t have a Journal account.
I didn’t expect to win so I was generous with the prize money. Did I just give away $25??
If I got your name wrong email and I’ll fix it.
If I didn’t identify you and you wish to be identified, email and I’ll fix it.
If you don’t wish to be identified, email and I’ll change your name to ‘Miata’.I’ll also apply CheeseheadDave’s suggestion.

This may be my fault. Before the picnic date was announced I reminded Socko that the picnic has been typically later in August.
Now that the picnic date has been announced, I hope Socko can adjust things so they don’t conflict.
Mea culpa, me a dupa.
Now this is interesting.
1. A request for immediate info from Green Bay.
2. Police blow up a missing (for 2 weeks) cache box in De Pere.

Some thoughts…
- If you keep it alive, the special information should not be in a log but on the cache page itself. If nothing else, you should highlight the fact that the cache is not at the listed coordinates.
- If you keep it alive, special equipment would now be needed to retrieve.
- But, the new location hasn’t gone through the validation process. Is the new location private, yadda, yadda, yadda?
- You can’t maintain it, so until someone can … wait do I hear a bugle playing taps.
- Bottom line, place a new cache box at the old location and remember you have some garbage to pickup downriver.
Do non-humans count?
Look in the lower left hand corner.
Look to Robin’s left.
—No, not to the left of Robin, that’s me!.
Look to Robin’s left.
—No not Commander Bob!
What Commander Bob is holding.Congrats Bill and Anne.

The one thing I can’t figure out though that maybe someone else can help with, is how to create one of the little red marker icons that Google uses at the exact cache location.
I found this idea on the gc.com boards. He does it by setting the starting address and ending address to be the same. I remember when I used to be this sneaky.
Instructions are the same as above for adding to GSAK.

I don’t chime in here much but I’m glad to see Jan & Chuck going strong. Some of nicest people you’ll ever meet.
