And if that doesn’t work you could squash it with your foot which makes: tick tack toe.

Don’t drop it into a pond at Bong Recreational Area. Other bodies of water may have similar adverse affects but I have no experience with that.

What is the date and time for the assault? I can’t see it among all the stuff.

For this application of the concept it will be called the ‘Survivor’s Tree’.

    Whey to go!

in reply to: Temp Cache Hiding Date #1758440

Placing temp caches for the campout allows for things that would be difficult to do on permanent caches. Its one of my favorite activities and I would encourage participation if you have the chance.

    Questions:
    1. How many caches do you plan on placing?
    2. What types are you looking for: Fri, Sat, and/or night caches.
    3. Does approval need to made by the Park staff?
    4. Can caches be placed the day of the hide or must they be present on April 24? (ref #3)

in reply to: City Select question #1740449

    My greatest disappointment too.

City select covers the large urban areas very well. Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison — its great. I always know where the nearest fast food is.

I assume you looked at Ft Atkinson and said what-the-heck or something similar. My city select is 3 years old and it doesn’t sound like it has improved its coverage.

in reply to: Why so many, why so tricky? #1749793

I endorse anything that gives the approvers a break. You know them by their glassy eyed stare.

But one way to filter out caches that are not to your taste is to use the ‘ignore’ list of geocaching.com and/or the similar feature in GSAK.

Unfortunately, my ‘ignore’ list is already full (100 caches) and GSAK is blocking 100 more of the lampost and ‘bush toss’ type caches within my normal caching range.

I’ll post here when I can, but first I have to find my 10 ft pole.

in reply to: Temp Caches and the Camp-out #1744279

The motive for increasing the number of caches at outings was to distribute the attendees among many more caches, reducing the number of people working on any one cache at time. The mother-ship cache also tried to solve the same problem.

But as attendance continues to grow, combined with the desire to “get ’em all”, the opportunities for the gentler parts of the hobby that Ken describes get lost. I find talking about geocaching with geocachers more interesting than geocaching.

I have no solution other to let people do what they came to the hobby for. And that’s different for each person.

On most sites, right click on a picture and save the image. On maps.google, you have to “screen scrape”.

To do this, hit the PrintScrn button (to the left of scroll lock). That copies what is on your screen to the paste buffer. Using a program like MS Paint, paste into the program and edit and trim the picture to taste.

Save the image to a file (like ‘house.jpg’).

Now you must have a server host your picture. You could use the WGA photo album or a site like http://www.photobucket.com (my preference). Once you upload the picture, it gives you the magic UBB text to paste into a WGA board message ().

    Thats the the quick summary.

Be careful how you use pictures or other resources from the web. Under the ‘fair use policy’, personal or educational use is generally not a problem. Commercial use (such as putting it on a merchandised T-shirt) is a problem.

Also be aware that the legal issues are not all settled. Some people believe that I’m a criminal for what I’ve typed in this message. At the other extreme, some people believe that “if its on my computer, I own it”.

I gotta go, someone’s banging on my door.

Well the official bnb is camping… and
The other B&Bs are pricey… and
I refuse to accept an old folks rate…

So I booked at the Park Inn in Chippewa Falls.

Industrial discharge is a requirement for a good M&M salad.

But its ice on Pewaukee Lake … really.
