… and then I loaded up my kayak and headed east.
Along the way I went over the story in my mind, again and again ….
Do-do-lu do-do-lu do-do-lu
(flashback sound effect, haven’t you ever watched Saturday Night Live?)Everyone remembers the famous schooner, ‘Rouse Simmons’, AKA the ‘Christmas Tree Ship’, lost, with all hands, off Two Rivers point, at around 4 pm on November 23, 1912. Her legends continue to this day.
But an little known part of the legend is her sister ship, the ‘Souse Simmons’, named after a heavy drinking uncle. It worked in tandem with the Rouse. The Rouse brought the Christmas trees; the Souse brought ‘the Christmas Cheer’. Actually tons of ‘Grasshopper Mix’, a green minty concoction that was a favorite back then. It too went down, on the same day, on the rocks, with a twist. To this day, the mix seeps out of the Souse’s hold, giving the nearby water a green shade and a taste not unlike toothpaste.
Before realizing it, I had driven all the way to the Lake Michigan shoreline…

I know the morse code for a ‘D’ : dog did it : -.. is burned into my head for life. During the afternoon, Grousetales demonstrated some ham training materials. Don’t ask what the dog did.
Does this work for those with FRS or GMRS radios?
How about a typical police scanner (monitor)?Don’t think that you’ll need your car to hunt caches, and if you car-pool you are ‘stuck’ with your pool-mates.
There is one huge lot where you’ll park and probably not move. There is another small lot near some of the caches but it is no real advantage to drive there.
