I beleive strongly, that everyone of us should tell other cachers that we meet about the WGA. I know, I do. I try to get everone over here that I can.

As far as getting the word out more, I feel, that Newspapers, and News, is one great way to get the name out there. Time Warner, Charger, and the OTA TV channels, all have a “Community Announcemet” Section that would be great for this.

I have been involved in the WGA Since May of 2006.

My first WGA Event was the WGA Camp-out in Door County.
I was only into caching seven days as of the start of the camp-out, so I did not to much other than attend.

At the 2006 Camp-out, I did odd jobs that needed to be done, as well as helping with caches and cache retrieval.

At the 2007 Camp-out, I was on the Committee, and helped with many things, including helping at registration, Helping to hide caches, as well as retrieve them after the event, as well as General duties as they arose.

In the future, I will continue to help with the events in any way possible, Presently, I am on the 2008 Camp-out Committee, and will help on the Picnic Committee as well when the need arises.

in reply to: #4 Fees for cache placement #1883532

As one of the WGA Members that attended the Multiple Meetings with Brown County, I have my Comments.

I agree that no community/county/state should charge for cache placement. Do they charge to have a grill out, do they charge to play soccer, do they charge to take a hike, do they charge to play Volleyball?
How is geocaching any different. The Communities/Counties, and State are already reaping huge benefits of caches in Parks, and forests. People come from all over the country to cache here. This brings in revenue, and people using the areas.

in reply to: #3 Urban Spew #1883525

As far as Urban Spew is concerned, I definetely have my Opinion. Bring them on! Don’t get me wrong. I am a equal Oppurtunity Cache Hunter! Somedays, I like to go for numbers, somedays I like to go for Quality, Somedays a little of both.

I feel strongly that there are cachers that are not physically able to do the long walks, cache after cache. as a matter of fact, I have great friends that fall into this situation. Not that they don’t like to find caches way back in the woods in an ammo box, but at times, it is not physically possible.

Why should we limit there ability to cache, by limiting the number of hides in a urban area. To some people a urban micro may be just that. To some others, it may bring back memories of an event, or special time.

Some of us go long distances to cache, and all around our great state. Some People stay in the Green Bay’s, the Appleton’s, the West Bends…….

    To each there own.

As long as the urban caches get properly maintained, and meet all GC.COM Cache Placement Guidlines, I see absolutely no problems, and you can bet I will be looking for them.

in reply to: Question #2: Regional Representation #1883518

I Beleive that Regional Representation, is a great idea, and one that I feel very strongly about. I have talked about this to several board members in the past. Face it, right now, there are areas of the state with active cachers, and great active caches that do not have representation at the State association level. I agree that this should be a elected position, with eache region selecting there own representative.

in reply to: Question #1: Midwest Geobash #1883511

I have to agree with Bec. I feel that Wisconsin, has plenty enough active cachers to pull off a mega event. I alos think having a mega event here would be great for the States Economy. I do know that there had been some talk about Bringing MWGB to Wisconsin, and I think this is a Great Idea. It will bring other cachers to our great state to visit some of our great caches.

Personally, I would help out in anyway that I am able to to see an event like this brough here.

I know how to get that count below 500. It involves some old leather Boots, 5 bags of Reddi-mix Concrete, and a Bathtub form, and a Large Body Of water (ie: Lake, Bay, Ocean), preferably Salt Water….

    um… That should do it.
