I would like to see the State park series happen. I would also like to see more communication with State and local park departments.
If GC.COM crashed, I keep records of the caches that I find, so it would not be a burden at all My find numbers are mine, and I know what I have done. So do the folks that cache with, so it would be a non-issue.
I was on the board when the decision was made not to allow multiple logging of temp caches at events. I feel that one find, is one Smiley. No two ways about it. This again, is now a Dead issue to me.
I have to agree wth Barry, one person cannont decide how to spend any amount of WGA funds. This will have to be decided on by the BOD, and the money would then be spent wisely on progressing geocaching in he state of Wisconsin.
I think this is a good Idea, and will help to get more people active in geocaching, and will help the DNR by getting more people to visit the state parks, therefore increasing revenue.
If this is accepted, I will volunteer as much time as possible to make this a success.
If it is not accepted in it’s current form, I would continue to work with the BOD to re-draft something that is acceptable by the WDNR.
Way to go you guys!!! Keep on having fun!
If I had to vote for only one person running, it would be Pete Labrat_WR. Pete has done alot for the WGA, in helping with the WGA Campout at High Cliff as a Co-Chair, and helping people that post in the forums. Pete is a Great Person, and would do wonderful on the board.
I do have to say, that I do like to find a good ammo can in the woods as much as anyone, and coming from FilmcanVille, they are a really nice change of Scenery. If the DNR does want clear containers, than we should comply with their requests. We do not want to hurt the good working relationship with them that we presently have.
Thanks Jim for the question.
I work as a Copier/Printer Network Technician, as my full time job. I also do some contract two way radio work. I have been a service Technician since right out of Highschool.
I also help out when I can with Various groups. I was a Past Vice President of the Nicolet Rifle Club, and helped build Target frames, Re-Roof the Clubhouse, and alot of other things around the range, and Club.
I am also an amateur radio operator, and help to maintain Four Radio Repeater stations that provide emergency communications in the Eastern Side of Wisconsin.
I think this is a good Question Jim, as it will allow people to get to know each and every one of us better.
Thank you Barry for the questions:
Question 1:
I signed up on Geocaching.com after reading several webpages about geocaching, and hearing about it on a Wisconsin Public radio Program. I actually had signed up at GC.COM about a year and a half or so before I found my first cache. I found my first cache on April 29th of 2006 with KS9WI in DePere, WI. After finding the first three we looked for on that day, I was hooked!Question 2:
I live in Green Bay, and Travel very frequently up to the Suring/Gillet/Mountain area, as well as Ft. Atkinson. I have cached in about 64 Counties. I am working on my Wisconsin Counties, and Delorme Pages to complete those two caches.Question 3:
I have traveled all over the great state of Wisconsin caching. When I run a find Stats Generator, it says that most of my caches are found between 75-150 miles from home.Question 4:
I would travel anywhere in the state to attend a geocaching event, I have been to three Midwest Geobashes, and every WGA Event since 2006.Question 5:
I am a member of the MAGC (Military Association of Geocachers), and the MIGO (Michigan Association of Geocachers)I think it should be 1 Ticket for one person.
Way to go mathman!!!! Keep on having Fun!!!
Way to go Gus!!! 2000 Is just around the Corner!!!!!! Keep on having Fun!!
Thank you for the questions.
To answer your first question, Yes, I would attend. I try to make as many events as I can all over the state, and Beyond. I would love to see an event up there.
For the first part of your second question, When the cache page is published, it appears in the Weekly Cache notification from Geocaching.com, In addition, there would be a link posted on the WGA Homepage under the Events Section. The Idea that was posted about a article for a “Weekender” Type paper, is also a good Idea.
For the second part of your question, As far as the WGA Paying for any advertising, It would have to depend on what the cost was, and if it was approved by the Board of Directors. If the costs are reasonable, I do not see any problems with that.
For the third question, Yes, WGA Equipment can be used, as long as it is returned in the same condition that it was when it was received.
For the fourth question, I do not think that setting up a Event has to be an every year. If someone up there, or in any part of the state wants to head it up, thats is fine, but to say and event has to be held up there every year, or in any of the quadrants, I would have to respectfully say no. The regional events are put on by other cachers, with the WGA’s backing.
I would really like to see an event in some of these less cached areas of the state.
I do beleive that public education will help with this exact scenario. This has happened close to Green Bay, a few times, and the containers were destroyed. I believe it is up to the cache owner to ask for permission, or let others know where the cache is located. This still will not always work , as if something suspicious is reported, it is going to be taken as “Bomb Threat”, as someone could always pull said cache, and place a bomb.
The WGA Has articles on proper cache placement, and guidlines, and if they are followed, problems will be reduced.
Unfortunately, though no matter how much people are educated, when it comes to public safety, the container is going to be no more.
Yes, it will be an actual CITO event. That is what was talked about. I would like to see this done atleast twice this year. They used to request three times a year, but they realize that they would rather get it done fewer times rather than not at all. Yes, the first CITO event will be happening in April.
as far as change goes, I would like to see the WGA help out with more regional events. We did have a few this past year, and While that is great, I would like to see more.
I would also like to see the WGA Get involved in doing some more for the state parks that allow us to hold our events there. In the past, we have done some Garlic Mustard Pulls, and purchased GPS’s for the parks to use. I feel that this helps us maintain our good standings.
I would also like to see more members get involved in the WGA. This includes helping with presentations, setting up, and tearing down for WGA Events, and helping to educate people on what geocaching is, and what it offers.
These are a few things that I would like to see changed.
