Good Morning:
I do have to say, it was not as good as I was hoping, but it is definetely better than either of them that were in the Appleton Post Crescent Last week. Hopefully this will start things going the other way.

Good Morning:
From what I remember, there is not button battery, and I beleive you have about 5 minutes to swap the battery before the memory is lost. I am not poistive, but I know on the older ones, that this is the case. I have the Treo650 phone/pda, so I have to keep the battery up to receive calls. Hope this helps.

Good Morning:
As of Saturday Morning we have another article in the Appleton Post Crescent. It is definetely better than the original. Have a Look, and let me know your opinions, except about my incredibly long run-on sentence!!!! Sorry about that.

The Meet and Greet is now scheduled for 7-30-2006. I am going to write it up for 9:00am. I will be writing this up Thursday Evening. Thank you for all of your intrest and support. It has been very Eye-Opening and appreciated. What the plan so far is:
I am going to be contacting the park and Rec department Head William Lecker, and Inviting Him, along with The Appleton Post Crescent Editorial Staff, All of the Aldermen from Appleton, and The Local TV Stations.
The event will include Starting at aproximately 9:00am

Discussion of Interesting Caches, and Cache Hiding Spots
Discussion of CITO and the General “Accepted Rules” of Geocaching
Go out into the field and Grab a few Caches from within other Appleton Parks.I am planning on grabbing the Three Caches at Pierce Park, as Well as City Park.
If anyone has any other Caches that they would like to see included in this event, Please contact me and get it on the list. I was hoping to get at least one of each classification ( Micro, Small, Traditional, and Multi_. I am planning on no more than Five for the Group Cache, as I am sure the press, TV Crews, and the Alderpersons have other things to do as welll, but I am going after a extremely positive group of people doing a positive thing.
Please keep the suggestions coming, contact me at 920-471-8008 at anytime.

920-471-8008Greetings Fellow Geocachers:
As promised earlier in the day, here is the full report regarding the conversations that I had with various elected officials, Park and Recreation Director, and the Cache Owner. This is going to be long, so Please bear with me.
This morning at aproximately 8:30AM, I spoke with Crazzy Buzzard the owner of the cache. Herein called the Cace Owner.
We spoke in great depth, as me being the last to find this cache, I felt it important for me to get involved, as I was the one to experience the “Muggling” of the cache that had happened in the past week. He and I met on all of our comments being the same. We both want the best for the Geocaching Community, and we both could see where this was going with the press.
Following my conversation with the cache owner, I left a message for Mr., William Lecker, The Director of the Appleton Park and Recreation Department, Herein called the Park and Recreation Director. He told me that he had also spoke with Crazy Buzzard. He said in no way, has any geocacher caused any damage at any park in the Appleton Park Department. He also said, that our using the park for geocaching is perfectly legal, and encouraged. He also stated that us using the park for geocaching, is the same as a group of people having a picnic, or playing soccer or frisbee golf. He said that in no way, will geocachers not be allowed in the Appleton parks based on the press’s reporting, unless damage starts to happen. Which I assured him it would not. He is a very nice person, and seems like he has a head on his shoulders, unlike some people. I asked him about possibly hiding some more geocaches in the parks, and then taking some of the alderman, and any other elected officials on a Geocaching Day, to see what it is all about, and see that Geocachers are not causing the damage. He was perfectly fine with this, Granted me permission to use the parks, and “Wished me Good Luck when Dealing with the Appleton Post Crescent”
I next spoke with Steve Wideman one of the ediotrs/writers for the Appleton Post Crescent, Herein called the “Paper”. He said that he did not know alot about the sport, so I again explained the hobby/sport to him, to which he was very receptible. I asked him, it I could get a few Appleton Area Geocachers toghether, Could we take him, and some of the other writers out on a Geocaching day. He said, that he would be very interested in that, and Would have a Photograpy team come out as well to photo the Geocahcers, and the Things that they do. I mentioned the Cache In Trash Out, and He had never heard of it. I told him That I have on more than one occasion carried out more than one garbage bag full. To that he was very happy, and congratulated me, and other Geocachers. He had told me that as of 9:00am this morning that they had received more than 110 email messages from other Geocachers. He told me that this was too many to respond to, and I can agree with that.
What I now ask you fellow geocahcers, is, would Some of you be interested in doing a caching day, with some elected officals, and Members of the press to get some good publicity for our hobby/sport. Due to the fact that the paper, and the Park and Rec. dept cannot be bothered with this amount of response, from now On I will be the point of contact for this. I will setup the Caching Day, and Speak with all member involved.
If you are interested in this, Please contact me at
[email protected]
or better yet, phone me at 920-471-8008 at anytime, so as I can explain this to you with more detail. The reason that the Mr. Walter Kalata witnessed this, is that he lives in one of the apartments above the Mulldunes bar, which is adjacent to the park. He planted the flowers on his own time, and According to the Park and Rec Director, was unaware of any written agreement allowing him to plant them there.
I feel it is our best intrest as a group of people united for one goal, to see this to the end.
So far everyone that I have spoke to has been very receptive, and interested in learnign more about our Hobby. Please consider my request and respond, if you are willing to help me get some better publicity for our hobby.
I contacted Memorial Florist in Appleton Wisconsin, and spoke with Bob Aykens on of the owners and offered to pay 100% for the flowers that they planted, but he said that that was not necessary. He also stated that one other “Geocachers” had contacted them as well. I am now assuming this to be “Cache Bopping Bunny Fu Fu”. I thank you very much for this
Anne, and would love to include you in this if you wish.I am sorry that this message was so long, but feel it is very important to just let it go to the wayside and be forgotten.
Once again, please contact me at 920-471-8008, and please use me as the single point of contact so that we do not flood the media, or the City.
Thank you very Much

920-471-8008I just read the paper as well. I can only surmise that the alderman lives in one of the “Low Income apartments” above the Tavern that is across from the park. That is the only “residences” any where near the park that is in the middle of parking lots.
Justin
I will chime in with my two Cents worth. as it looks like I was the last to find!
It all started for me on July Eigth. I went looking for this cache. There were two other cars in the parking lot for one of the bars across the street. I spent about two minutes looking for the cache, never leaving the concrete patch. I saw a white note hanging in the tree near the cache location. The note said
” No prize here Suckers, how does it feel to be had??
HaHaHa”I posted my DNF, and mentioned that the cache container was not there.
That was it until I read the post from Crazy Buzzard saying that the cache was there a few days later. I then went to attempt it again on my lunch break. This was about 1:30. Cache container was again gone, and in it’s place, another white note. I took the note home with me, and was planning on giving it to Crazy buzzard at the Puzzle event in manitowoc that Thursday.
I then went back again the next day at 7:00am the next day, and the cache container was back, so I sighned the log, and there was no note. Same day four hours later at about 11:30, cache container was gone, and another note.
Absolutely no flowers were destroyed before, or during, or after the time when I was there. As I stated before, you didn’t have to come anywhere near the flowers or even leave the concrete!!! I never even searched near the flowers, as that is not where the GPS was leading!!!.
With how the note was there, then gone, then there, then gone, someone was obviously playing games, and I would tend to beleive they had some doing with this.
We all know, a “Geocacher” would have no reason to dig up flowers, and I for sure know myself, and all of the geocachers that I have meet would not trample them either.
I think what we are dealing with here, is a Gentleman who planted flowers on his own time, in a park that he does not own, and then complains when they don’t last. I wonder if any of the “under the influence: patrons from the local drinking establishments had anything to do with this?
I will be more than happy to speak with anybody in regards to this, and hope all is resolved soon.
Justin

Geocaching.com ID K0RPLI agree whole heartdely with Da Fu. I once opened up a Cache container to find a Band Aid, and a Green Barrel from a Pencil eraser. Not even an eraser. And it wasn’t from the Pencil that was in the cache. I normaly don’t take anything just sign the log, however, if I do take something, I always leave something of greater value.
Justin
I will be attending. Mark me for one for sure.
Justin
Congrats Lindsey.
Hope to see you get your 400 goal soon!!. A New Laptop as the Gift!!!!!
