Agreed-Great Job and Great Event
COTM is supposed to be for caches but I nominated the Event for COTM because of how good of an event it was, but also the participation and the fact the cachers involved gave back by cleaning up a number of Wausau Parks. CITO is a great way to give back to the community at large, many people stopped by us to thank us an dour group was just 4 people
Problem is the high Deet is rough on skin, it wouldnt have helped my wife. She got one at the hairline on the neck. That stuff at Wally World is for horses, have you found a new form of transportation to caches?
Maybe the best question to be asked is what does the BOD (not individual BOD members) think of the COTM and if it needs changes?
I know from another issue BOD members have told me they prefer to be reactive rather than proactive, so since this has been going on for quite awhile (in one form or another) what is the BOD’s opinion?
Mister G, we couldnt have said it better or agree with you more.
Also this would eliminate the cachers who get nominated for their body of work rather than an outstanding cache
Like Marks idea of showing the number of votes or recommendations a cache gets, however given the population density issue again you could see unworthy caches get honorable mention.
Being we sometimes travel to cache it would be nice to know what some of the better caches in that area are.
We found it and the room the meeting was in. Lights off nobody home, four guys playing pool in the pub and 1 girl behind the counter that I woke up to ask where the meeting was. Pretty bad the event was 7-9 and last I looked 8:45 come before 9
Nice to see Geocachers getting good publicity for a change
Maybe Gotta Run has part of solution (several others have good ideas also) but instead of showing just how many people vote for a particular cache maybe we should list the name so of those who voted also
The ribbon is also a good idea, as is just stopping with the nomination.
There are many cachers who routinely place better than average caches (Ranger Boy in my area, as an example) that just don’t get the respect they deserve. One of the problems I see with some of the puzzle cache publishing masters (S|S as an example) is yes we know that you put a lot of effort in your hides, and even more so in your puzzles, but many of us are still banging our heads on the keyboard trying to solve them.Funny, I am a SE Wisconsin cacher and earlier this year I bought up this problem and I was told by many including some who have posted here that this wasn’t an issue.
Also to note, I voted for the winner because I had done it and felt the series was worthy of note. I seldom cache outside of my home area so I would seldom vote for a cache outside of this area, but if say I do one today in Wausau after the CITO event that I think is worthy I would nominate or vote for it.
I still question why people who have not done a cache can vote for that cache in the COTMThe irony is that I got to this event during the posted times, and they even mentioned they would likely be there until 10 in their listing, and at 8:45 nobody was there. So I ask what if you went to an event and no event was there?
Any of Uncle Funs multis can be added to the list, also The Return of the Magnificent Seven. They are all in SE WI
Congrats, it seems we have been passing each other by for the last few months
HB, thanks for the heads up we may try to make the Friday event depending on when we drive up for the Wausau event
Congrats
