We have a lot of 5 Terrains here in Central WI. I can help you out with a kayak.

Thanks for the offer Mathman, I know there is a series you created that covers most of the 5 terrains. Other problem is getting a free weekend to do something like that before the water gets hard

There are two 4.5/4.5’s in the New Berlin area. All of maybe 3 miles between them.
For me the 5 terrians will be the difficulty..no canoe, so we have to wait for hard water to get some of these. Unless we can find some out of state.
At least any caches work for this one. The one in Illinious you have to have 50% of the finds in that state, and 25% in certain counties.

Remind us in November to call you for our Webcam phone a frind while we are in Vegas. Need the Webcam for the well rounded cacher 😀

Sure just as we get under 20 holes in black out, now we need to find more caches. Still missing a Cito, a Letterbox & the Webcam.

At least I know we will getting a webcam soon, and we are missing most of our 5 terrians, so we have to wait for hard water for them.

Hopefully we can claim this in early spring

Thanks for the laugh, my wife is form Muckwanago..and if you cant tell in the nearly 15 years we have been together I still have no clue on how to spell her hometown

I look at our start of caching and wonder if this could apply to us, after all we have done 2 Delormes (Wisconsin & South Carolina), The Badger State Challenge, 14 states with finds and a 1000 finds in the first year I guess you could make a case that we are.
However in the year before that we were couch potatoes, a weekend was watching movies and what was on the DVR. Now it is caching.
I think regardless this is a healthier alternative, and as a plus we have made some very good friends on the way.
I also know that I know where the line is, I may check forum on my lunch break but not during work hours. I may leave home a few minutes early if there is a new cache on teh way to work, but I have never been late because of it. And since I have missed one day of work in 5 years I am not calling in “sick” to cache.
I however have seen others who do not seem to know where that line is. I hope that they can realize that they have crossed the line

Count us in for a vote for Red Rock. We are planning to hit that area in November to get some of the higher terrains for blackout.

The best 1/1 cache I have done, and actually one I think we will not forget is GCQ596 A Special Memory. Uniquely different and classy but not for anybody with commitment issues 😀

The drive from Vegas to St George Utah straight thru is roughly 2 hours. Saint George was very nice and you should be able to find a nice variety. We only did 6 so no real recommendations.

Dont forget the Virgin Gorge section of Northwest Arizona. As I remember there were caches at almost every scenic overlook that I-15 takes thru there. However there maybe construction in this area (there was last year about this time and the overlooks were closed)

Outside of Vegas higher clearance vehicles are recommended for caching, I know of at least one cacher who took his rental VW bug offroading.

Finally enjoy and if you do some abosulte killer caches let me know which ones so I can add them to my must do list

Kinda didnt think about the camera when getting to the cache we were doing..was a little more concerned of falling on the breakwater and breaking something, like a bone

Thraxman, I like your response. All be it a little silly, but then again a lot of these challenges are somewhat a little silly also (I don’t consider county challenges, Delorme or blackout silly).
But the fact is many of us are challenge oriented, to us it is what keeps the game interesting. My point is there is no reason we cant steal (borrow) ideas from other areas and incorporate them here.
My suggestion is if you see another challenge that looks interesting, even if it not in Wisconsin, post the GC here and maybe somebody will like the idea and run with it.
I myself have looked at other states challenges because I think that they offer us ideas

I am somewhat jealous, but then again we are hitting Vegas and St George Utah in November. Enjoy the trip.

The nearest black out challenge is in Minnesota, but the finds can be anywhere. Plus there are challenges like Zuma’s Northwoods 12 Pack and Trekin & Birdin’s I hope youre hungry challenges which really are chllenges based on favorite chaches of that cacher.

Being somewhat addicted to the challenge caches it would be nice to see a listing of all plus maybe get a discussion of going of challenges that we have seen in other areas that we could get done here. I have seen Centential caches which a person has to have 100 puzzles, or 100 multis, etc, I have seen a challenge where you have to get a cache placed by a cache owner whose first letter of their caching name represents each leter of the alphabet (ie Zuma=Z)

in reply to: Blackout, or Fizzy Challenge #1896225

I think that challegne would be to do all the caches in Wisconsin..but give them time 😀

in reply to: Benchmark Hunting #1895283

Since we are on benchmarks I found two the other day that are not listed on GC. We were doing the Match Head cache at the Racine Breakwater and on our way to the cache, once we started on the concrete portion of the breakwater we found them both, each about .10 miles from one another. Cant claim them as fnds but has anybody else discovered an unlisted benchmark? Or do you know how to get tehm listed so that they can be claimed?

Wow, more messages out of LaX..T&B snag the Badger State Challenge – 72 Counties..Nice 2 day take down of big target caches

in reply to: Well Rounded Cacher coins? #1896080

    Gwyn,
Unfortunatly the net at work will not bring up the pictures (hey I am on lunch). Oakcoins sold a Fizzys Challenge geocoin about 6 months ago, not sure if it is the same but it maybe a place to start. If they don’t still list it please message me and I will take a piture of the one I purchased and get it to you
