One idea to add to this, I dont know how much we do in coin sales outside of Wisconsin (A board member could help here), but I know that South Carolina, Minnesota and Utah all make their coins in two metals.
The first metal would be whatever the majority of the organization prefers and that metal alone is shipped to in state members. The second metal (call it the second place finisher) is then sold to whatever in state member would want is and to anybody out of state.
From when I had our coin made I seem to remember had we want one portion done in one metal and another in a different metal there was no additional cost unless it was a premium metalI wanted to be part of the so called Appleton Group (& I live in Milwaukee go figure) but it was my niece and nephews Bday party that weekend.
COTM, no matter how it is done, will always be flawed in some fashion. The caches in big population centers will always stand a better chance, regardless if they are a better cache or not.
I haven’t for quite a while nominated caches in the Milwaukee area because the will get the nomination with or without me. I have started nominating those gems that I have done in areas outside of Milwaukee. Page 104 of the Delorme, Kewauskum, and Barron County were the last ones I nominated. The reason I nominate these gems is so that they dont become forgotten and people will hopefully seek them out
As for doing a cache like this in a group, I think it adds to the experience. Some of the best friends I have made caching have been while in a group format.

Benny, I agree. Ice would be nice, but we can always plan the assualt from on top. Were in, unless traveling is dangerous

Geez, the Milwaukee River Downtown is more frozen over than those pictures. And I would never try crossing the river.
Seems strange I hate cold weather yet I am hoping for some so it freezes enoughZuma,
Thank you for clarifying, I have to tell you the original response was not as nice as the one I posted 5 hours later, I to wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt.
However I think when you post a statement about what the board did you should expect that there will be some who disagree. I do not see what I questioned as being argumentative but rather an attempt to get communication going on a topic I did not agree with. Silencing those who disagree is a form of censorship, which I dont think you support.
Also I think you took one of my items out of context, I did not suggest that the board intercede in every misrepresented comment in forums. I did suggest it in issues that are highly charged.
OK you say I should have known, I accept that as my fault, but I honestly can tell you I never knew of the one year plan until you posted it, well after the fact. So at the time the new logo was rolled out I did what I thought was a good idea and asked a board member as to when it would go into effect and the response was soon (which I take to mean in a few weeks maybe a month), once the topic came back up in forums nothing was said about the 1 year plan. In fact some of the board members added to the topic by telling us who were trying to get answers to shut up. They could have chosen to put water on a fire, instead they put gasoline.
I dont know if we can agree on this one other than to agree to disagree.
Thanks Zuma for taking the time to respond, I know we all have better thing to do.
May I remind you every candidate in the last two elections has indicated the importance of communication, all I am attempting is to keep an open line of communication going. The WGA is not perfect, but if you are not willing to listen to those who have left disatisfied the WGA will not be able to correct areas that people see as short comingsI leave you with one last thought, and no need to respond to this, I was asked by somebody yesterday, “If they aggravate you so much why are you still posting?’
Zuma,
I want to make sure I am taking the context of your response to my original post in this thread correctly. You indicate you dont want to deal with those who are posting just to argue, and happy to discuss with those who want to discuss. Which side of this do you put me on? Arguing or discussing.
Thanks
DeanIn know this isnt Superior but what about Interstate Park, Its about an hour south of Superior and could be a great spot for an event.
I dont know enough about Superior to suggest location. I have only done 1 cache in that area, but theere maybe great locations that could be suggested
Zuma,
I have a real problem with the transparency, in fact I feel it was more towards invisibility.
There have been two lighting rod issues recently, one being the logo. Once the logo was rolled out the question became when could we have it for updating our cache pages and such. If we got an answer it was soon.
Several of the computer savvy types found work arounds but nothing for the average joe and the question would be asked again, which would be meet with hostility by members (Of the WGA and board) who were feed up or done with the issue. This went on for months (at least 6 maybe more).
During this time there was little response by the board, and what there was either riled up one side of the argument or the other. Finally one board member (you) comes out and indicates there is a one year plan for implementing the logo.
Fine, great, first problem is this was the first I had heard of it. Second problem is that if a board member had been watching those threads and post why did they elect not to mention the aforementioned plan. It would have stopped the hostility, provided an answer we were looking for.
It seems the transparency you are patting yourself on the back for accomplished little to nothing in my opinion. In fact I would say that that was the final straw for me in my decision to leave the WGA@zuma wrote:
and that no one actually at the event complained about the system used
zumaZuma, I guess me thanking you at the event for making temp caches count wasn’t direct enough. I apologize now if you took it as thanks as opposed to the sarcastic comment that is was
I have always thought the WGA is at fault for this long drawn out argument. I believe if they do not allow for the logging of temp caches at events they should not place temp caches at events. If they place temp caches at events they should allow the logging of temp caches. Instead they try to do both and the argument continues.
At the Lake Wissota and High Cliff Events cachers in the applicable host area went in and added new permanent cache and in my opinion both events didn’t need additional caches
But I dont think this issue will ever go away, regardless to what side you are on, until the WGA decides to quit playing both sides of this issue
Mizfit, best post in the thread
Just curious on a comment by Jeremy. He indicates the only item is shirts. That maybe the case with going thru the WGA link he published. However if you go to Cafe Press directly I have seen items like xmas ornaments and bumper stickers.
were out-birthday party is Saturday
Great Job by the host. After all it took to get us there it was well worth it, hope to see everybody again next year
