I would suggest road trip, but it appears T&B have already made the trip. Maybe the rest of us?

I know for us we have slowed down some, in our first year we did the Counties Challenge, the Delorme in South Carolina and Wisconsin and made it to 1000 finds. And then we said now what?
We have a challenge we are working on this year but this challenge is more about quality of the cache than the quantity. I suppose we could go on a numbers run and hit 2000 by the end of year 2 but if we get the other challenge done by the end of year 2 and say only have 1750 finds that would almost be better. Certainly this second year has had its own unique milestones that have nothing to do with numbers, we now own bicycles and a kayak that we have (or will soon) used for caching

in reply to: new logo for cache pages #1905294

Some of us have gone to just not using the logo until the new one is put up and made readily available. I dont want to go searching knee deep in some old thread to find the instructions for the new one, of course the old one isnt that easy to find either

Just today up in Green Bay we are hunting a multi that had been changed from a 3 part multi to a 2 part multi.

After struggling and finally finding WP1 off we go to the final, and we get about 500 feet from WP1 when my wife announces she found another cache. I pop the top of the film canister and pull out the log to see what she found and just start laughing. The canister contained the same coordinates as what we found in the cache at WP1. She found the former WP2 from when this was a 3 parter

    Easy Steps to Geocaching
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Geocaching, Second Edition

    1. Register for a free membership.
    2. Click “Hide & Seek a Cache.”
    3. Enter your postal code and click “search.”
    4. Choose any geocache from the list and click on its name.
    5. Enter the coordinates of the geocache into your GPS Device.
    6. Use your GPS device to assist you in finding the hidden geocache.
    7. Sign the logbook and return the geocache to its original location.
    8. Share your geocaching stories and photos online.

From GC, it does seem according to #7 that signing the log is a requirement. Phantom logging annoys me, I just today did a harder D/T combo and if I look at the notes of a recent finder of GC they describe the cache adventure that is similar to mine, but also similar to several other who have found it, but yet when I got to the cache that caches name was missing

We have found two letterboxes on accident, the caches we were searching for were less then 10 feet away (the leterboxes were both on letterboxing.com). In Iowa Roxy (aka Eagle Eyes) spot a cache that had been a urban hide that was never published or removed, it had proximity issues.
We have found one legitimate cache, The Hive, we placed temps at the Latham Peak event last year and thought gee this looks like a good spot for the cache, obviously we were not alone. We placed the temp elsewhere. The hive is a puzzle cache that we had solved a few days earlier and had intended to hunt it at the event, but not quite this way

in reply to: Challenges in Wisconsin #1909448

I see one missing on the list and in my opinion it is a harder challenge than the Badger State or the Delorme. I cant offer an opinion on some of the other challenges listed here as I have not done them, but against the two I have completed I view the hardest challenge to be:

GC1GVN6 The “Cheesy” Well Rounded Cacher

I will decide to chase after some other challenge after I complete this one so I am appreciative of the list. But I admit I like the big challenges so this is the one I want to complete first

in reply to: Cache Percentage in home state #1909380

    We breakdown as follows:
    Wisconsin 1258 78.6%
    Indiana 74 4.6%
    Nevada 72 4.5%
    South Carolina 53 3.3%
    Illinois 47 2.9%
    Utah 33 2.1%
    Iowa 32 2.0%

I did not include any state in which we have less than 10 finds, those states include, Minnesota, Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, California, Michigan (2 finds both in upper), Florida & North Carolina. We also have 6 finds in foreign countries Mexico, Beleize and the Bahamas

Bad thing is I keep thinking how to get to those that I dont have

    Congrats Snyder Bear
We tried one of them and retreated, you definitely had your work set out for you to do them all

in reply to: What’s the point of geocoins? #1909181

If we see coins in a cache we at least will take down the tracking number and report the Discovery so the coin owner knows it is safe at that time, however if it is a copy or laminate we will not.

I think it is wrong to consider coins trackables at this point, as everybody makes them into collectables (myself included)

Given how this thread almost always seems to be about numbers, it is nice to see we also can say congrats on the important real life events.

Congratulations and may you do well in the next part of your life
