I think you’ll find that in tree cover the amount of moisture on the leaves will degrade the signal more than the leaves themselves. Scientists (like JeremyV) tell me this is because the H2O scatters/absorbs (I forget which) the GPS radio signals from the satellites. More info here:

Has anyone else discovered a new passion as a result of geocaching?
Yup. Her name is Mary. Well, I didn’t actually “discover” her because of geocaching, but our second date was a day of geocaching followed by dinner, and I discovered she enjoyed geocaching, so I discovered I had a winner.
I’d like to help also — text writing, editing & proofreading would be my wheelhouse.

We relocated from Cary, NC last June and are excited to go back and visit with our geocaching friends that introduced us to this great sport. Our team will fly down on Friday AM, and return Monday. We will be staying with our old neighbor friends. If anyone wants a list of family friendly, extremely hard, or down right clever caches, please feel free to contact us. We have approx. 250 finds in the Cary/Apex area.
😆 See you in the Carolina’s
Wait… Carolinas? I thought this topic was referring to the event in Indiana. What’s that one called? I need links!
We’re thinking we could camp Friday night and leave by mid-afternoon Saturday. which means missing the meeting and the group photo. It’s not the ideal solution, but I really need to play the next concert because I opted out of our most recent concert (last night) because of a company party.
Brian, I could bring my hat and leave it with you for the group photo. You could hold it up on your hand or something. Would that qualify me as attending?
I’m planning to run down there to spend the day Saturday. Probably will camp at least one night. I think Mary is planning to go along too.

While its not an huntable cache per se, there is always Wisconsin’s Geocaching Holy of Holies….
😆 I don’t know that I’d call a cache that was never found, never maintained then abandonded by its owner “holy.”
Our favorite Sheboygan cache is this one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=61f0c396-baae-4e21-aaea-acd55445fff6
I’m not sure where you’re located, but my Wild Goose Chase is along a walking/bycling/atv trail. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC515

Zuma’s experience here describes my Minnesota problem to a T. People often ask me, “Hey Brett… you live in Minnesota, yet you cache in Wisconsin all the time, what’s up with that?” Well up till the point that I read Ralph’s caching story it could be summed up with two letters
KB
But now I seem to have another reason.I’d also like to share a couple of my favourite KB lines if I may, and please allow my to paraphrase:
KB “….Well, how often are the coordinates right on anyways?”
(relating to my DNF of a Virt at the Earl Brown Herritage Center)“…. I didn’t know that it was our job to encourage people to cache.”
(relating to his publishing of a cache listing with no description at all of that cache, just a blank page. (I must mention that after seeing that listing, I tried to submit it as COTM based of the ‘Great Amount of Planning and Effort’ that went into it. What ingenious camoflage, a cache made to look like garbage, why didn’t I ever think of that? 🙂I’d just like to clarify that I think I know who you mean by KB… and it’s not me! 🙂
How about a posting links to the caches so we can check out the pages in case we want to put them on our ignore lists?
Looks like a great location. Would these be do-able with sea kayaks in the summer?
Right you are, Brian. Sue is a progressive leader who loves parks and encourages out-of-the-box thinking, so I bet she will be receptive to working with the WGA about a Milwaukee County Parks geocaching policy.
I just received the same answer in the gc.com forums. Thanks!
main menu…setup…routing… guidance method…. prompted.
Way to go, Cheezehead. Thanks for your good work and for your report.
I don’t understand your post.
