Interestingly enough, he still occasionally posts on the USENET newsgroup sci.geo.satellite-nav, which is where geocaching actually started.
To clarify, Mike Teague never had this cache in a database, Russ. The original owner did not respond when Jeremy wrote to him, so Jeremy assumed ownership of it and archived it.
Auntinae is aware of my WPRA presentation because she was in the audience. She’s probably suggesting continuing our efforts with that organization. Right?
Here’s another outreach we did with the WPRA — a guest article in their magazine. Geocachers can print thes two page as a handout for municipal and park officials: http://www.rocketink.com/WPRAarticlepage1.jpg http://www.rocketink.com/WPRAarticlepage2.jpg
And of course, there’s the PowerPoint for parks managers:

I was going to look for that cache when I first discovered geocaching in early Feb. 2001, but I didn’t because someone else had posted they couldn’t find it. Instead, I had to find my first cache in the Chicago area ( Beverly )because that was the closest geocache to me. Later that summer I emailed Jeremy to let him know that the Sheboygan cache wasn’t there. Back then there was no “Should be archived” type of posting. Jeremy was reviewing all caches then.
By the way, here’s a list of first caches in each state you may be interested in.

A status report on the election…
So far, 68 members have voted for their choices to fill the 4 board positions up for election. If you’re a WGA member and you haven’t yet voted, there’s still time. You have until midnight Feb. 12.More information can be found in this article: http://wi-geocaching.com/archives/apr2003.html
FuFu, Thanks for the suggestion. As with all suggestions and criticsms, the board will discuss it and come to a majority vote, if not a concensus. The problem we have had in the past is that when individual board members express personal opinions or take personal actions, a few people have criticized (and continue to ad nauseum) the entire WGA Board for those words or actions. Trying to decide when something calls for an official response or when a board member can voice a personal opinion is a fine line to walk and we do the best we can,
[Note: This was all my personal opinion. ]Next to the WGA site, here’s another favorite: http://www.iowageocachers.org/index.php

Iowa?
Getting back on topic…
Yes, I’m the reviewer for Iowa. I spent the first 32 years of my life there and when gc.com needed a reviewer for Iowa two years ago, I offered because I was already versed in reviewing. (I used to be WGA2 before passing that ID to Tie.)Just a note that we won’t be hosting a July 4th event this year. I have a high school reunion then, so if someone else wants to pick up the Independence Day torch, go for it!
Welcome! There are lots of caches to find, both near and far, and several fun events coming up. We’ll see you on the trails.
Sounds like a rumor all right.

Well, it looks like the problem resolved itself. I got a note from rogue that the cache had gone through a woodchipper, which is totally awesome.
And totally Fargo, hey?
Very cool. It’s interesting that in the news release, Garmin specifically mentions geocachers. That shows what a large and important market we are for GPS manufacturers.
I’m still using my 6-year old Garmin eMap. I keep postponing purchasing a new one because the technology keeps improving and I don’t want to miss out on anything. Therefore I miss out on everything.
The one smart thing I did was purchase Garmin stock 5 years ago. Since then then stock price has increased 254%, with an average annual increase of 29%.
A message to buck09: It looks like the email address you registered under for the WGA forums is not working. Every time someone posts on this topic, I receive a “message failure” email from our website. Please check and correct your registration information. Thanks.
