Questions: Do members want individual numbers on these geocoins? (That costs more.) More importantly, WHY do you want these? What is their purpose?

Just asking so we can make sure the project meets the objectives.

To keep us more efficient about the geocoin topic, let’s consolidate our comments over in the Suggestion Box forum. In the meantime I’ll close this one. Thanks for your input!

If no interest in WGA sponsoring or helping, any problem using the WGA logo?

Kent, I think this is something the WGA could and should get involved in, since there appears to be grass roots support to have geocoins made. Understand that we haven’t discussed or voted on this, but in my opinion, we could set up an order-taking system here at the WGA site. We’d, of couse, have to review the coin design, quality, and pricing for our members. If Smokey or someone else would like to spearhead this as a WGA project, I’d be glad to be the liaison on the WGA board.

I found this online. (Amazing what you can find when you Google yourself.) It’s another version of the story from Community Newspapers. It features PharmTeam and The Troops: http://www.gmtoday.com/content/CLS/2005/May/60.asp

Swordmaster, I enjoyed your log on Cornered: “best find ever” — out of the 2 you have found so far.

I agree, but I also aknowledge I may be in the minority on that one.

As for the article of the month- Any member who has an interest is highly encouraged to write and submit an article to Kbraband for review. Unfortunately, there just has not been many submissions to utilize.

Actually, the most recent Article of the Most was posted in Feb. 2005, not last year as the other poster stated. We also have another one in the works. But yes, we welcome your ideas and submissions for Article of the Month.

Quoting from the volunteer reviewers’ Code of Conduct:

USE OF UNPUBLISHED INFORMATION; BEING “FIRST TO FIND”

Reviewers will not use unpublished information supplied for cache approval to their advantage in finding caches, nor will they intentionally share this information with others. Unpublished information includes, for example, the intermediate and final waypoints of multicaches, the solutions to puzzle caches, and the target objects of virtual caches. Reviewers may be first to find any traditional cache after it is published on the Geocaching.com website. To avoid the appearance of impropriety, reviewers will refrain from being the first to find caches of other types which they have approved.

Like I said last year at this time:
(paraphrasing myself now) What’s with all the fuss about these dang Jeeps? Come on, folks. Let’s get bent out of shape over things that really matter.

Because the comments in the gc.com forums seemed to be a criticsm of WGA events in particular, I was referring to WGA events in my post here.

Docapi, I admire you for carrying on a well-fought but hopeless battle. We’ll do things the way our members (through their elected board members) choose to do them, or until Jeremy expressly bans us from doing so.

Very cool! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the great pictures.

I almost posted on geocaching.com (what was I thinking?) I’ll post it here instead: If this kind of thing really upsets you, it’s time for you to get a real life.

I also have the Cingular set-up to do the Internet connection thing, but I haven’t used it in many months because I go to wi-fi hotspots now. In fact, when we went to the WGA campout we spent a hour at the Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire so we could email work stuff before heading over to Lake Wissota. Bonus: it was a cool place.

in reply to: Missing Hartland Man #1749650

I checked the WGA membership list. We don’t have a Dave Koch registered and there’s no one close to that name from Hartland. Not saying he wasn’t geocaching but it’s apparently not someone we know from the WGA.
