If you’re interested in the history of geocaching in Wisconsin, RPaske’s very nice Article of the Month published last year includes some of the highlights: http://wi-geocaching.com/archives/apr2003.html

We found it about 2:30 or 2:45 on Saturday. It was still attached under the bench at that time.

I believe the WGA already has a system in place to highlight exceptional caches — our “Cache of the Month” and “Cache of the Year” awards. Granted, you can’t find these listed at geocaching.com; you have to go to the WGA site to find the list. And also granted, there are not many COTM winners them around, but that’s what makes them exceptional. The COTM system is a good positive way to highlight outstanding caches and lift them up as examples to others of what voters think is a good geocache.

No burnout here because I no longer go for numbers. There was a time when I felt compelled to go geocaching just to increase my number of finds. That was between cache #50 and #200 or so. Now we’re much more relaxed about geocaching. We only go when we want to, not because we feel other geocachers are out there increasing their numbers. We select caches based on those that look like a nice hike, and those on the way back that sound interesting for whatever reason. I’m not saying everyone should give up on the numbers. I have become aware of how important this is to some people. However, if you’re feeling burned out, free yourself from chasing numbers and geocaching becomes much more fun instead of an obsession.

The board members will be glad to sign it, although that may diminish the value of the shirt for some bidders. Therefore, we will let the winning bidder decide whether he or she wants it signed. Thanks for your bid!

    What day and time?

I have used permethrin a few times for our canoe trips. It worked well. Not only does it keep the ticks away, but also keeps the mosquitoes and black flys at bay too.

There “could” be other campouts this year. All it takes is for someone to find a location and post it as an event. I bet that even without many of the aspects that go into the official WGA spring campout, there would still be geocachers who would enjoy the chance to get together to camp. All it takes is someone to step up and organize the event. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you wish.

As I state on my geocaching page, to me it’s all about the hike.

Mary called me early Sunday morning to tell me she had a tick in her leg and was asking how to get rid of it. I was sleeping when she called so I wasn’t understanding what she meant. I knew she had probably been running that morning so I thought she meant a tick like a stitch or a spasm in her leg. After I finally realized what she was talking about, I suggested placing a hot extinguised matchhead against it. That worked for her. Immediately after we hung up, I checked myself and found one on my neck. Eeeewww! I didn’t bother with a match. I just pulled that sucker off and crushed it.

Mary and I had a great time too. Sorry we couldn’t be there for the whole thing this year. And sorry we didn’t have time to meet everyone. We’ll keep watching your posts and getting to know you that way until we do meet in person. In case you didn’t see it buried in our log on the cache page, here’s a low rez version of the group shot.

We’ll both have to ask Jeff to show us. I forgot all about trying GSAK until I saw your new post just now.

Not sure why I’m listed twice. Total should be 10.

Snoring will be the least of your concerns. Wait until the whip-o-will starts his alarm like singing

Back corner for non-snorers sounds good to me.
Re: the whip-o-wills, they may start early in the morning but they don’t go at it all night long.

Bill, I’ll buy two. I need one for this weekend. What time are you planning to get to the campout?
