An update, I’ve been in touch with Friends organizers and am planning to meet with them next week about this event.
From an earlier discussion… 😀
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2277&highlight=snowI’d be interested to hear your definition of “extreme outdoor sports.” Hunting and fishing aren’t usually placed in that category. I think of sports like rock climbing, white water kayaking, sky diving, mountain biking, etc.

I’m a “No” also.
You can’t even see what it’s about without creating an account and signing up.
My friends keep trying to get me to sign up. “look, you can change your moods and everything”. Well, I can change my mood just fine without facebook 😕
Geez, Brian, all this time I thought I was the old man in this crowd. 😉
Very cool! Congratulations to you both.
Several weeks ago I reserved a lakeside campsite on Rock Island for this same weekend, so I’ll plan to paddle over and say “hi” again this year.
Mary and I spent a week kayaking, camping and B&Bing in the Apostles in August of 07. Depending on how some other things fall into place, we’re hoping to go back this summer. My blog entry for this trip is here:
http://iowaadmin.blogspot.com/2007/08/kayakers-paradise.htmlThe problem with this poll is that it doesn’t give good guidance to the board. Instead of having the choices follow a natural progression of “very positive” to “neutral” to “very negative,” the choices seemed confusing. The final choice started to come closest to my opinion: “I really dislike the new logo. The colors are drab and it communicates nothing about our organization.” But then the poll author added what to me seems a complete about-face at the end: “But I will live with it” which, if selected, could be interpreted as an endorsement of the new logo.

I’m not sure I’ll get a state sticker this year if it has butterflies on it. That’s just too girly.
And yes, I’m kidding. 😀
What part are you kidding about? The “not getting a sticker” or the “girly part?”
I don’t know if you were kidding when you asked me to explain so I’ll explain. I was kidding about two things: 1. I will definitely get a state park sticker again this year. In fact, I got one yesterday. 2. I don’t think showing butterflies on the sticker is too girly. Butterflies are part of nature and the outdoors, and to me, the “outdoors” is gender neutral. I wrote this to poke fun ina good-natured way at the WGA members who said back during the logo debacle that they thought the stylized “g” logo was too girly. (Isn’t humor that much more funny when you have to explain it? Yes, I’m kidding again.)

So, we will live with it whether we like it or not.
I agree with many of the things Seldom Seen has said except for this one. We don’t have to live with it. There’s nothing in our bylaws that prevents the WGA Board from changing the logo to whatever it wants to at any time. (Heck, they can adopt a swastika if they want to.) Our recourse as members is that the board is an elected body. And I hear there’s an election coming soon. 😀

Some inflatable kayaks are OK, but if you’re looking for portability + performance, the better way to go is with a folding kayak. For example: http://www.paddling.net/buyersguide/foldingKayaks.html
Here are stats complied by Riviouveur, who reviews caches for France. As of
May 30, 2007 there were 6,098 caches in Wisconsin. 18 months later on Dec. 8, 2008 there were 10,201 caches in Wisconsin, which was a gain of 4,103 or 67.3%. As of Dec. 6 there were 60.1 caches per 1,000 kilometers, 183.6 caches per 100,000 population, ranking Wisconsin 34th and 27th respectively out of 143 states and countries worldwide.@Cachelovskys wrote:
Does anyone know who these cachers are? their geocaching name? are they newbies or veterans?
