Following along on this thread myself..

in reply to: Where are GPX files stored? #2044869

On my Delorme the folder is called waypoints on the sd card, the field notes are stored on the device in the waypoint folder if I recall offhand. I think on my old Magellan it was gpx or points.. I’d have to look again at that device.

I have some by Trempeleau in Perrot State Park, now would be a great time to get out and see the fall colors.

in reply to: GIFF Events #2043592

Just submitted mine yesterday after checking with the owner of the company I look for. I too was planning on going to the Vlogger’s event but after looking at the map and seeing far and few are being hosted thought I’d put one on since I have access to a facility.

I jinxed myself after saying it was fixed, I used it the other day for a trip I had and I bumped the cable and it acted up. I’m thinking my issue is a bad cable.

I copied a tb hotel I found in Illinois that was designed to look like a weather monitoring station. Funk’s Grove cache.

I just had the same issue on our way back from the boundary waters, luckily I knew my way home. I got home and just plugged it into the computer a few times and cleared the memory. Seems to be stable right now and working flawlessly.

Not ready to do the premium member thing yet for my caches, but I feel the pain. I’ve had caches get logged by app users and then I go do maintenance and find they didn’t sign the log. Only thing I can figure is they found a cache but the gps signal was coming from the cell tower and they said they found that one. I couldn’t email them to tell them of their mistake and encourage them to log more because of the email thing.
I imagine having challenges and puzzles with folks logging found can be quite frustrating.

Working on getting down to Nelson Dewey, tried to get down there last Saturday but just didn’t make it that far.

in reply to: Lock and lock containers…where? #1975661

Kitchen Collection in the mall used to carry them by various sizes. These were the real ones, haven’t been in there lately so not sure if they have them yet.

Will anyone with WGA merchandise be at the flash mob event in LaCrosse next week?

in reply to: Minor change to reviewing process #1972782

Ok, got you. That’s what my thought was also but wanted to verify I was right.
In the last week I’ve found caches that left me shaking my head at what people have done to make a hide and now with this in place this won’t happen.

Good to hear! Now if you can persuade one time Charlies to not hide caches we probably would celebrate.
One question, what is permently attached to trees meant as.? Seems kind of grey to me and since I’ve seen birdhouse structures all over attached to trees I have to wonder what the line is so I don’t cross it if I were to hide one.
    Thanks!

in reply to: Who completed all of the 31 days of Geocaching? #1972000

Got it and used it as an excuse to go for 100 days, now over half way and it’s helping me clean up my local area.

Looking at the list I could possibly place one at Nelson-Dewey but I’m reluctant as it is further out of my normal range but not too far from Wyalusing so it is a possible if no one else steps up. We are going to Galena this weekend so I may be able to stop in there.
