Not to steal the thread but I am actually interested in purchasing this one or the 60 that is coming out and have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer to.
I know it holds a 1000 waypoints in the internal memory, now can I dump those waypoints and pull from a file on the sd card? That way if I’m traveling I can have specific files for the area I may be leaving or entering?
I gather you liked it since you are going with the 60, I’m on the fence between the two or a Garmin unit.
Thanks! Thanks all! Yeah, we are still bantering around a date on it.
Trekkin.. we hit one of our challenges (getting 1000 by memorial day and we pretty much did just have to slow down so we don’t oveshoot) so now we’ve been talking what our next one is.. So far everyone here sounds interested in your How Hungry Are You challenge. As much as I’d like to go along and was hoping to I have to pass this up as the kids youth group is marching that day in a Memorial Day parade. I’m game for any other of this type once I get used to a kayak.
I can’t seem to get the ftf column to keep my ftf’s, I like the idea of a bookmark as it would save me from having to recall them every time. I don’t know why it doesn’t save them, I’ve been really picky on trying different ways to save the check, but it doesn’t.
I know that it is nasty, but that’s what I get for letting my son choose the hiding spot. I really need to just say no, but then he does say everyone else makes us do it!
Ssshhh, don’t tell anyone but I was looking at that last evening! I’m thinking of upgrading the gps’es and that was one I looked at and liked.
Hmmm…. scratches chin… hmm.. If my truck gets fixed soon I may be up for the challenge on this one. Sounds like a fun adventure.
Way to go folks! I knew you were getting close and when I checked last night you were still logging the caches. Congrats!
I have a cache that this has come up on, I emailed the two finders and inquired from them exactly where the location was, what type and the color. They answered my questions well enough that I left the logs.
I personally always take a picture of the cache and put a note in my find log saying that if the cache owner wishes I can send them a picture or delete my log. Haven’t had a problem yet. Thanks folks! Was hoping to have Dr. Evermore and Lady Eleanor as that number but things didn’t shake out right.
The first name in the log for the film can is Jewell’s Jewel’s but I don’t see her on the log, I was going to ask if you removed the canister. I wonder if they are hiding for another site at the same location?I like seeing folks stats, as stated it gives me something to strive/compare against and makes the game interesting. I also like watching the logs that come in for Wisconsin as I have found some nice caches to look for through that.
Nate,
Go to the GSAK page and look for the county macro and the Delorme macro. I believe there is a county one, it’s either that or a site that does it. I have a Delorme one, but at a hotel in the Dells with a cruddy connection otherwise I’d send it to you.
Funny you mentioned the challenges as that’s what I was going to look to see what I needed for this area.+1 on Sweetlifes definition.
If going by some of the previous definitions I do that everytime I’m out with my family. And I would have participated in it this past Sunday, but the group went out with the thought to find specific caches, and we did accomplish that however we didn’t have a preset course and did do others along the way. But, we didn’t have anyone point out to the cache and say it is right there and be off in 3 minutes after signing the log. Didn’t happen that way, we had to work for the caches, in fact we did dnf one cache and almost didn’t find one.I was lucky enough to tag along and be there when he hit it, I haven’t checked but I think The Balk’s should have hit a number yesterday also.
The cache was the same one that Lagrac had down for number 8100, pretty funny that such a simple cache is a milestoner.I’ll give a call when we are done with our thing.
We did a quick search for Marshview and G’s Hideaway Revisited this past Saturday, but at that point we had flashlights only so can’t really consider that a search. -
