I think I wrote a tftc once.. if I recall it was a cache that just sucked but there was nothing wrong with it in any way. Basically, it looked like they threw it out the window as they drove by.
Only other time I’d say is for this year’s West Bend event and doing the p/g’s down there, I just couldn’t recall anything after 2 long days of caching even with field notes so I did the copy paste and if I did recall something I added it to the log.

We have been pecking away at that bike trail over near Rochester and no hints along with quick coords like you say have led to some nasty changes to the area over the few months we’ve been working on it.

I have yet to have a dnf on any of the caches on the bike trail and that’s the way I want it.. Although the one I have hidden and waiting to release will be hard but is still meant to be found.

What is with this trend with bad coords? That’s the real question, it seems experienced cachers are trying to make the find more difficult and the beginners seem to not know to take multiple readings. and then to verify with the satellite view.

Yeah, I have that issue also CodeJunkie, I will type up a quick log and then come back and edit it later. Although I see some challenges frown on edited logs.. ugh!

Cachesense now allows logging direct so you can stand at the cache location and log your find.

I’ve done it, and usually sent updated coords to the owner to adjust but the cache owner usually ignores the updated coordinates. Most are nice and do adjust them after I send the email, guess I could post a note but I know some folks like to skew the results to make it tougher.
As an aside, I still need to get out and get some new coords for that one of mine on the bike trail as I used two gpses to get the coordinates and they were both real close.

We love the bags, use them in our camper for holding shower gear or even caching. They are useful and I like the idea of bundling stuff to help reduce the cost and make sure we get one.

Agree with Black-Cat on the deficiencies with it, it does eat batteries although not as bad as I was expecting, I came into Cache Bash with used batteries and about halfway through the day I swapped out as they were going dead.
And the PN-60 holds 1400 caches in the file, which means using gsak to make the file bigger.

That’s an item I wish it had was wireless transfer from my phone or computer, I think some of the Garmins have bluetooth don’t they? That’d make my life easier when traveling outside my normal range although with the ability to have loads of files in there it rarely happens but this past weekend I was close quickly to being out of the pq range.

I know on the snowmobile sites that I follow folks love the SPOT, haven’t heard of anyone using the combination of the two yet.
As for the chirp I followed along and was unimpressed with it so that’s not a big deal, but whereigo’s would be a big plus, but I’m sure if I look around I could find the phone app for that.
Sandman, I saw you at the Bash, if I’d have known that I’d have let you play with mine, there is a big learning curve, but the abiility to do so much with it really offsets it once you learn how it operates.

Should also add that I saw a ton of Delormes at West Bend this last weekend so they are getting more popular I think!

    in reply to: Delorme? #1951761

I have one, and wouldn’t part with it now that I know the ins and outs of it. I’ve really started to abuse mine both outside and software wise and it is holding up!
The only thing I wish is I’d be able to do the chirps or whereigo’s just to be able to do them standalone without a group, but the mapping ability of the Delorme makes up for the gee whiz stuff.

I was hoping that was the soloution that you were looking for. Great that I actually had an answer and it came from trolling the GC threads!
I like the idea of a custom page for that, and yeah, I may “fake” run the pq several times before I find exactly how I want it and that’s what I miss.

Here is the way to see it the old way and the thread on GC dealing with the want to see it like that again.

And here is the direct link to the comment with the workaround method:
