Anyone have trouble getting Rusk county showing up in Findstats 4?? It is the only county that doesn’t show but yet it shows I found caches below in the counties found list.
Count one of mine as a victim, seems my flood prevention device failed me due to the extreme force of the water and 3 feet of water probably didn’t help either. Bright side now is I have a kayak/canoe/boat cache that is also locationless. Hoping it turns up somewhere between Bangor and West Salem on the river but I don’t hold much hope.
I’m sign the log, look for trackables and head out, but if I have the kids along then it turns into a long deal to trade out. They always love matchbox cars or soldiers.
Have been pulling anything liquid in the containers that I find lately, one of the last caches I found had some glass perfume vials in it, bet that would have been real nice next spring.Yeah! A new forum and about something I’ve been pondering adding to our geocaching items. Encountered our first pathtag in July while out with the Weasel from Iowa who educated me on them. Now starting to see them more and more I think they are going to take over other trackables possibly.
Hmm.. that may explain a problem I noticed with Findstat 4.0, was playing with different colors today and I couldn’t get it to shade in Rusk county. Don’t think it shaded Taylor, but I’ll have to take a look.
I would say that recommended at night is for like a haunted theme, or maybe a scenic view like Grandad’s Bluff.
To me the night cache is straight a cache with firetacks or made to be found at night. Our first time to the Bash and had a great time:
Positive:
Kids enjoyed the pool while we waited around for the drawing.
Helpful people
Did use the discount coupons and still have a couple left if we get back that way yet this yearNegatives:
Trackable area wasn’t really well marked/closed early (we came back from caching hoping to trade and it was all closed up)
Some caches we did needed help, we avoided all the new ones for the most part and went out after a challenge we were working on for that day and hit a few caches along the way that needed help. Unfortuneatly we had cleaned our bag out for the bike ride we did the next day and had no extra logs or baggies along.
The WhereIgo worked up on my Blackberry up until we tried to use a tool and then no luck. Our first time doing a WhereIgo so we didn’t know if it was us or not. Did find someone to finish it with though. All in all not a bad experience, we had a blast and the kids really liked the pool. Great way to highlight the city and I’m sure I’ll think of more later to add.
We have a cacher around here that likes to do that also.. I’ve run into that issue on a cache with him saving the spot, if you dig there is a small thread somewhere on here discussing that. My thoughts is you can save the spot for maybe two weeks, after that put a cache there or open it up.
Was holding off on doing a will attend until closer to the event, but just found out that the kids youth group is doing a fall campout that weekend.. And this event is “close” for us..
Still hoping that the campout for the kids gets canceled.I think today was one of them day’s where anything that was more than a 1/1 and about 200 feet from the a/c just sucked!! Man, was it hot and humid today or what?? The Balk’s and I had a plan today and that plan got bombed after almost the 4th cache today.
Sorry to hear of your luck, DQ does sound good though, wish I had thought of that! From what I understand you need to be in the zone for the game to begin. However, on the WhereIgo site there are a couple of demo links with open areas. I downloaded the one and it started to work but I wasn’t in a big enough area to try it fully.
I’m hoping that the few times I need to do a WhereIgo that this works fine.Yes.. Oh, that’s right I mentioned it to you! Laughing, so it works well on your phone? I started playing with it, but then ended up not doing a WhereIgo so never did finish.
Awesome! Will be going through there on Thursday evening on our way north. Unfortuneatly, we will be having to set up our camper once we get to the campground so it doesn’t give us much time to cache on the way north.
I swear I searched for the previous cache like 4 times and never did find it so I was bummed/relieved when it got archived nice to see it is being replaced.I was out caching with the Weasel from Iowa in the area yesterday and we came upon a couple logs signed by you folks. Also picked up the pathtag you placed in a cache at which point the Weasel was like a little kid, seems he has a collection and it was the first I’ve ever seen in a cache. Just want to say thanks for sharing with us!
I dunno.. I think I’ve seen some LPC’s that are better than that one in West Salem. 😛 The only good thing about that one is it isn’t one just randomly placed in a garbage dump.
Back to the bike trail and caches in this area, I’d suggest any Raslas or TheBalk’s caches along with of course T/B’s as quality caches, I’d really recommend Raslas’s No Kit Needed Cache as a good one of theirs and TheBalk’s have a couple near Sparta/Cashton that are all good also.
