This is a very good question Todd300, thanks for asking it of the candidates. I feel we should try for a better relationship and understanding of geocaching within local law enforcement and the communities. I know some areas in the U.S. have done like a course/orientation about geocaching and it worked well. The issue I think would be finding the time and resources to do so. I think it is a valid topic for the board members to discuss though. I know on numerous outings I’ve been questioned by the local authorities on what I was doing.
I agree with what most of you have said. It would be very demanding to have the store open full time. Having it open the last two weeks of Nov. and the first two of Dec. though seems like a good idea for those buying Christmas presents.
It’s worked for the past 10 years so I feel the way it’s set up defiantly is working. Like Sweetlife said “If its not broken lets not fix it”.
Yes I strongly believe we should. It helps to keep older less visited caches in check and on the radar. And from what I can tell everyone who has joined the games enjoys it very much.
From what I’ve seen so far the post are always pretty decent. If elected I would have no problem helping to keep a handle on the forums.
That is a excellent question! A hobby of mine connected with geocaching would have to be camping. We are planning to camp on our honeymoon this summer in Madeline Island! Outside of geocaching I really enjoy cooking and trying new things in the kitchen; recipes, tools, etc. And as of lately I’ve taken an interest in woodworking.
Yes of course
Pumpkin Pie and then a good homemade Apple Pie would have to be my second choice.
We are from Slinger, WI. right by Pike Lake. We have geocached in many different areas. (Milwaukee and all of southeastern WI, Lakewood area, and Marshfield area). Upcoming plans to geocache in Green Bay, Sheboygan, and Madeline Island areas. We loved geocaching around Lakewood where we have a cabin. Great way to spend some time around town while visiting. Otherwise I’d have to say the caches around the Third Ward of Milwaukee are always fun when going to the city.
My schedule is incredibly flexible surprisingly. I’ve already secured days off for all the events through the 2013 West Bend Cache Ba$h. And finding time for any extra things needed should not be a problem for me. I feel confident that I can put the WGA at a top priority. I don’t take my nomination for the board lightly, and I decided before agreeing to run that I would not put the WGA on the back burner.
As far as all of the events that are planned so far I will be attending them all. If ever I am unable to attend an upcoming WGA event, I will be sure to do all that I can in the helping of planning the event and preparing. I really can’t see a reason for not attending any events though unless it was an unexpected emergency.
Looking at previous posts, I’d have to agree with sweetlife. I think an area that deserves a lot of attention from the board would have to be education. Not only for our new and current WGA members and local geocachers, but for our communities as well. Working to educate the Parks & Rec Dept. and fellow everyday ordinary people. Well out geocaching I almost always come across someone inquiring on what it is I’m doing wondering around with a GPS in hand. They usually always respond with “Oh that’s pretty cool, I’ve never heard of it”. It’s those experiences that really make me think that education has to be a top priority.
We can help out if needed
We’d be happy to help if there’s anything we can do please let me know.
