Hmm, that’s serendipity. I got stuck (okay, my van did) hiding one of the night caches for the Chippewa Valley event. I called AAA; they asked where I was (the road was unnamed). I said I could give them coords, but they said the couldn’t use them, they needed road names. 3.5 hours later the towtruck showed up.
I vote for either a Badger (okay, I had to say it!) or a Gauntlet! Okay, okay, all kidding aside; a woodland scene with the rivers/rapids/falls would be my suggestion.
Zuma, thanks for the compliments and for the help hiding! By the way, nice truck!
Okay, Yes, when the book images were burned, there were some typos. All coordinates in the data files as well as the passbook and the “nearly paperless” were updated on Wednesday and are accurate.
Would you like to enter all that stuff by hand? Man! The clerical lady at CVB earned her stripes!
Anyway, thanks to all involved for making this a success; hiders, seekers, etc. Come on bac!
Thanks to the 120+ people who have already registered!!!! Opening weekend was a great success with lots of folk out caching! There were a couple bugs that arose, coords off between books and files, a couple caches muggled, but it was shakedown.
So, the Event URL is updated. Coordinate files have been updated, passbook and nearly paperless passbook is updated. Announcement page will be cleaned up.
Thanks for the interest and to steal a phrase from zuma, keep on cachin’!
Event has kicked off with a success!!! CITO I heard was awesome (I got tied up and then had to go to the VBall at UWEC), the geocaching class had over 50 people between them!!! And tons of hunts already!!!
For those registered, and who do not check your email, you go back to post them by following this link:
http://geocachingwisconsin.com/index.cfm?event=postingpage2Thanks!
KentConcur. I don’t think any of us mind correction. We all want accuracy in what we put out there. ALthough, I would rather corrections to me be via PM or email!!! 🙂
I have one, and would not mind the convention.
Sorry. Yes, the 75 submitted will be “listed” at midnight on the 14th. There will not be another “event cache” listed; however, on the geocachingwisconsin.com webpage, the registration and download area will become available then where you can get the file. Also, the CVB will open at 8 a.m. to register and one of the computers will be in the lobby wiht GSAK program and data available for download/install. You would need to bring your own cables though…
Now, about that GPX/GSAK file, if anyone is familiar with exporting files wiht it to different formats and would like to help debug it, I am starting to have apoplectic fits… drop me an email if you have ideas/willingness to help. The main one I built works, but other versions don’t. Yet…
Oh! And for those going almost paperless for this, I submitted to the website yesterday PDB file (for Palm OS), the Pocket PC file, GPX file, Magellan file, etc. So, should have something useable for everyone. Specific question about it, let me know!
All caches will be in place right away. The reviewers have been fantastic and the caches listed will be “released” on 4/14 at midnight. I’m not sure about at the CITO event, but I will have a laptop at CVB with stuff loaded so you could get at it. Unless laptop dies… BYO cables thought. Hope it helps!
Huh. Cool! Still not sure that it reaches the 10% of all caches (10% of all caches are indoors…) the reporter notes though. I gotta check those out though!
Before this takes legs, let me state for the record that the reporter was using half an ear at times. Caches are NOT TRINKETS… Not sure where he got 90% of caches are outdoors the rest indoors either. We talked about how GPSr works… Anyone know of other indoor ones besides MOA? But, that aside, nice coverage and a great picture of Jim1830!!! At least he (reporter) did not say BURIED TREASURE!!!
Okay, so game plan is this. Entire passbook available. Simple coordinate file to download available. Nearly paperless passbook and cachemate (.pdb) file and the Pocket PC version too. I have seen the mockup for the nearly paperless version and it looks great!!! Of course, I’m biased…

Another good point. While I like the bookmark idea, will stick with the GPX etc. files. It hasn’t taken as long as I was afraid…

Thanks for the tip. It still leaves the 25 unlisted caches to contend with. BUT, cut and paste works slick!!!
