Speaking of Wausau caches, I was finally able to get two of my disabled caches up and going again. One of them, Bog Ponds Islands, is the final of a series that takes you along some cool paddles to islands in the WI River, and the history of Wausau. The container has been replaced with a new FTF prize, and lots of cool swag. The other is the Trail Center cache, along the new trail that connects the area around the Cedar Creek Mall with the new pedestrian bridge across the WI River in Rothschild. Some cacher had moved the original container where he thought GZ should have been and then no one else could find the cache. Again, a new FTF prize plus lots of cool swag, including some of those cool sig mini paddles. Sorry for taking so long to get these back out there.

Last Saturday I was in Fleet Farm in Wausau and got the smaller ammo cans for $3.79 and the larger ones for $4.79. I think the sale ended on Sunday though. I only bought one of each.

The picnic should be going on from about 1 to 4 in the afternoon. Hope to see you there.

    in reply to: Withdrawl!!!!!!!!!!! #1875653

Well, I really do feel bad that you have withdrawl symptoms. Mine are due to a Unite for Diabetes TB that has the destination to Petrolina, Brazil that was lost somewhere in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has not surfaced since March. I’ve emailed the last person to have it and they claim they do not have it anymore. I would have loved to see it get to Brazil!.

I guess we both have our withdrawl pain!
I hope you enjoy the sites and sounds though…….interesting place!

    Zuma,
Now that Homeland Security has you figured out (that you are out to destroy the US, one park or old schoolhouse at a time, starting with the Old Yellowstone Trail) I suppose we can thank you for all the huge tax increases we will all have to pay in order to keep us safe. I love hunting down your caches. The stories behind them are equally as interesting as the find itself. I’ll just have to make sure I stay one step ahead of the long arm of the law. Keep on hiding. 8)

For her birthday (Dec.12), I got my wife 2 WI Geocoins. For Christmas, I got her a Diabetes TB (she’s a Type 1), a World Wide Quarters commemorative coin, and then I got romantic and got her an ammo box. She got me a bunch of Groundspeak goodies, a walking stick badge, a window sticker, license plate cover, survival whistle/compass, and a geocaching mini-first aid kit. The day after my birthday (Dec.26), we went caching, the best present of all.

I believe you have to stop at the office to sign the log book. If you show them a picture, that may be enough, but I can’t say for sure. The question they asked me was pretty easy, yet it did verify that I had been to the sight.

in reply to: So where are all those Green Jeeps… #1765576

I took a paddle on the Eau Claire the day after Thanksgiving to rescue the Green Jeep TB (and shed some T-Day turkey pounds). Last I heard, it headed west on Zuma’s Yellowstone Trail and is now parked temporarily in the Curtiss Schoolhouse cache. Nice little multi.

According to the most recent MN state park website, geocahing is allowed there. Typical Minnesota, following in line after Wisconsin leads the way.

One item I have used in my first aid kit more than any other is one of those little cheap, plastic, pencil sharpeners. Pencil tips are always getting broke when they are getting crammed back into full containers. 😉

in reply to: Stuff in caches #1761139

I received from an area legislator 500 copies of WI highway road maps. They are a couple of years old but never used. I use them in my classes and they make good cache stuffers. You can always expect to find a couple in my caches if you can find them (two recent hides and at least two more under construction).
