    I am willing to help out in any way I can (from Milw. county…lol) I am not sure yet as to what I may be up to on that date as the kids will be back in soccer and school, and I will be returning to school myself… but I am here to do what I can :). Just message me and let me know if there is anything I can do (I am artsy craftsy 😉 )

    I am not sure who is heading it up. I do know that they have been placing caches in the various Ozaukee County parks over the last few weeks. I had the ftf at the Highland park off of Green Bay Rd and I think it is Freidstadt?… The container was a non-camo’d peanut butter jar with the geocaching notification in it, tossed in the grass by a tree base about 6′ off the road. From just this one cache, I would assume that the hider was not a “seasoned” hider… but I have only visited the one cache. I would assume that either they are not familiar with the WGA (which would be a wealth of information for them) or it is something someone involved with the parks may just be wanting to head up for their area.

    my 2 cents 😉

    I have been dating my BF for 11yrs as of April, we don’t live together, we are not married, we share nothing but our time and that is most likely why our relationship has lasted so long… if we don’t want to deal with each other… he can stay home 😉

    Had a great time at the booth meeting other cachers and helping educate new people interested in the addiction :). I think that sponsoring booths at festivals/festivities is a wonderful way to help educate people as to what geocaching is and how to be a responsible cacher and to enjoy the sport/addiction and what it has to offer. Thanks Ken for your time and bringing everything out to be set up to help educate the community as to what geocaching is and can do for the community. Thanks Mike for bringing out the table (I hope the wife didn’t notice it was missing!! 😉 ). And thanks to the DNR for loaning out the gps units we used to show people how to hunt a cache. I look forward to volunteering at future events and meeting more cachers!!

    I just talked to Ken and he says the WGA booth is in need of a table today. If anyone is coming down, or can just drop one off, please message kbraband to let him know!!!! Thank you!!!

    Well, I have found 267 already (mostly from my home coords). It does help that I live near a large metro area that is home to many cachers!!

    5mi=49
    10mi=357
    15mi=809
    20mi=1000

    WTG!!!!! This looks like a very FUN cache!!!!
    I will be heading up to GB on July 3rd… I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope I can talk Grandma into stopping by so that we can all get this one!!!!! (We will have to see what kind of mood she is in, and how her legs are feeling!!)

    in reply to: Worst weather to geocache in… #1930663

    I have only been caching for a short while, but as far as weather goes, I remember doing the rainbow shape sorter in knee deep snow, going up hill… the weather wasn’t bad but it was a heck of a work out!! then I remember being out with two friends picking up I Believe and a few others in Mequon, the wind was down right wicked and went straight to the bone. And for Heat… Peter Pan 6-10 was crazy, it was in the low 90’s but being in the 5′ grass up’d the temps at least 10+ degrees, you could feel the waves of heat just rolling over you, then you try to avoid the heat by hitting the shade and the mosquitos try to drain you dry. All caches were fun 🙂 (I don’t know of many caches that aren’t 🙂 )

    in reply to: "old" or "new" cacher? #1930618

    😉 I would put myself as elementary school age….old enough to know better but young enough to be dangerous 😉

    I have only been doing this for about 4 months, 266 caches, 2 socials, 1 placement, 9 adoptions, and a series in the works. I have met some great people, chatted with some great people and have found I like it all (even the mosquitos and the stinging nettle… not so much with the ticks). I have fun explaining caching to others and getting them involved. I love the aspects of getting out into nature and getting excersize with a goal (other than excersizing… that would never get me out of the house on it’s own!!!). It’s all good… I am a kid and still have that wide eyed wonderment of the caching world around me… it’s good to feel young again!! 🙂

    Team Sloughfoot is claiming a new record. We were north and west of Coloma on Sunday at Hidden Valley GC148MR. A really nice walk with a surprizing view at GZ. We even sat and enjoyed the view for a few minutes, big mistake. Got back to the car and noticed a few ticks and started picking. After about 24 we felt we had them under control. That was well into the creep zone but headed to the next cache. Hadn’t gotten too far down the road before more were crawling out and going out the window. Got on a dirt road near the next cache and Mrs. S. was ready to jump out the window and she was driving. Pulled over in a remote spot and, cover your eyes, the clothes came off. Turned everything inside out and picked ticks until the total became 46. We looked like a pair of monkeys picking at each other in our underwear. At that point a tour bus could have come along and I wouldn’t have noticed. Found more when we got home and are worried the car is infested. Got to love this sport. After finding a few more in the car the total is up to 49 and one that showed up at 3am makes it 50.

    It makes you wonder, where these buggers have been hiding when they show up hours/days later!!!!! I am always afraid they hide in my hair (my hair is almost waist length and auburn in color). Do they work in groups?? … “Hey, you guys hide over here, I’ll draw there attention in the other direction” <
