Thanks, looking forward to seeing you guys again at the picnic next week!
Congratulations on the milestone! We were following your footsteps up the north shore from Duluth to Grand Marais on our family vacation. I had to laugh because almost every cache we found the last sig was T&B.
Nice coin, hopefully I get a chance to see it in person at the picnic. 😀
I enjoy the puzzles, gives me something to do when the kiddos are asleep or conditions prevent me from going out caching! I hope this attribute will encourage people that don’t attempt puzzles to go after some of these since most of my favorite caches so far have been puzzle caches.
I’ll be bringing raw spice cake.
Try it it’s not as scary as it sounds! 😆
Thanks for all the recommendations. zuma – I remember you had mentioned the Shovel Point and Silver Island caches so I had them on my list and plan to do Gooseberry and Split Rock since that is where we are staying. We were possibly thinking of driving up to T-Bay, but I guess we’ll just see what we can find since there are plenty to choose from.
I’ve taken my 28 month old and 11 month old out to almost all of the caches I’ve done. They made it to the Meet & Greet at Roche-A-Cri, a CITO and a Flash Mob Event. The older one loves caching, he calls it “hiking” and pretty much wants to go out everyday. We have a Baby Bjorn carrier that I use for our youngest and luckily they are both pretty easy going and seem to enjoy getting out with dad for some caches. We pretty much just started putting our little guy in the carrier when I was cleaning around the house or going for walks in our neighborhood to get him used to it. Now he will fall asleep while we are out on the trail and since he’s right in front of me I can keep the skeeters off him. If the boys fall asleep in the car while we are out, I usually try to have some P&Gs or WSQs loaded up so that I can park near the cache and let them sleep while I grab the cache. Every once in a while they will have a meltdown to let me know that the adventure is over and it’s time to be home, but they do pretty good. As far as swag, the kiddo has traded for a hot wheel truck and golf ball among other things, some stickers just random stuff that catches his eye. I have a gallon ziploc in my caching bag that is full of swag so I can trade out for whatever he might decide he wants to keep. Hope you enjoy your time out with the little one, I know it is the best part about geocaching for our family.
I’m planning on making it up for the picnic and if they have extra coins available I’ll probably pickup a couple. I’m sure that I could make it down your way to get you one if I do end up with extras.
Congrats on the milestone! I also hit #200 at the Cache Ba$h, too bad I didn’t get a chance to meet you at the event. Maybe next year.
I wholeheartedly agree! My wife and I had an amzaing time at our first Cache Ba$h, we will definitely be making this an annual trip for our family. All the events and the people we met were great, looking forward to the next one. 😆
I voted for retaining current members because if the current membership is happy and involved with the organization, they will bring in new recruits. While I don’t think the WGA should ignore new or previous members, if we keep the cachers we have we will inevitably continue to grow.
I think the WGA is a great resource, so when I’ve introduced friends and family to geocaching I make sure to mention the group. I encourage them to check out a group in their local area if possible as well.
That’s awesome, glad it’s back!

http://hippiestrip.blogspot.com/The first is a geocaching blog and the second is my adventures as a stay at home dad. Been kind of lazy on both of them lately, but hopefully we will pickup here a bit.
Congratulations! It was great to meet you at the event, hopefully we’ll see you around your neck of the woods sometime.
Congratulations! 😀
