I’d like to get back to Door County and do more caching, otherwise hitting the northern reaches of the state in search of waterfalls.
I’m happy to offer up my opinion, but in the end it’s only that – my opinion. I have no problems recognizing a good idea when I hear one. As far as working, well that was in the job description when I signed up, so I’m ready and willing.
I’d have to say the main skills that would help me on the board are multi-tasking and problem solving.
Honestly, with the boys there is always an emergency, usually two or three and I have had to make sure that I can take whatever comes on the fly and find a way to resolve the issue.
When I think about the amazing places and wonderful people that I’ve met along the way, accepting this role is the least I can do to give back just a little bit. Now that the little hippies are older and a bit more self sufficient, I feel like I can manage to devote the time and energy that a board position would require. Those caches will always be there and in a couple of years, I can sit and relax and watch someone else run around trying to take of everything. 😉
I currently have 26 of my own caches out, along with 10 that I’ve adopted. I think it is a good quality for a WGA director because they are chosen to lead and placing caches is essential for others enjoyment of this hobby. Taking the lead in putting out and maintaining caches shows others in the community what is possible and expected.
Strengths:
The members, pure and simple. I’m a member of many caching groups spread from Portland to the Tennesse Valley and a number of them seem to implode due to antagonism between members or general lack of participation. This group we have here, while they may not all agree all the time, manage to come together for the most part.Weaknesses:
Event participation (I’m guilty as well). It seems like I could probably count on my fingers and toes the people that help out at almost all the events I attend.Strengthening:
In my opinion, the best thing we can do is keep promoting caching in general and the WGA in particular. Many hands makes light work.I was able to put together and lead a geocaching class at the Verona Library to kickoff their summer program as well as serving as one of the guests (along with beccaday) on the Larry Meiller Show on Wisconsin Public Radio.
Survived and managed to do quite a bit of caching as I didn’t have the lil hippies with me 😉
Shhh, I’m on top of the leaderboard! 😯 😀
7 mystery, 1 earthcache & 2 traditionals; sidenote both traditionals are evil monkeys 😈 of course it’s not all that surprising since most of my hides are ?s 8)
Thanks everyone!

Did you get all the counties while you were at it?
Just need to make a “small” detour the next time the family heads to Eau Claire and County Challenge will be on the books, which also qualifies me for zuma’s Grand Slam challenge. 😀 The catching up part, might take longer than the next challenges 😯 😳

We visited the Maze when it was in Dayton. It needed updating. Hopefully they get around to that. Geocaching has changed so much since they first made the materials for the exhibit. Don’t get me wrong, it was interesting, but a little dated. Worth getting the icon though. Got mine and the coin you can only get at the exhibit.
We visited in OH as well, ironic that we were on our way home from KY. Agreed that they could do some work on it, but the lil hippies enjoyed themselves in the exhibit and the rest of the childrens museum. Hmmm, WGA field trip anyone?! 😆
