Mr. Postman dropped my coins off today. Very nice design on these.
thanks again Jennifer. So many of these coins are so cool that it is hard to place them in a cache !! I wish that I had the finances to mint a coin, I would like to be able to have my own personal coin. Maybe one day……

The Waushara County Parks Department now has their Geocache Notification Form on their web site.
    http://www.co.waushara.wi.us/parks.htm.

I will be submitting my disabled caches soon and once they are approved I will be replacing and re-enabling them (or some of them as two are in a park that is closed for the winter).

congrats Sagasu. Again, quite an accomplishment for still less than one year caching. There is an anniversary coming up, will there be a special cache placement? 😀

Glad you’re okay -cheeto-, I do believe that there are cachers who will heed your warning. I also believe there are those who will not. 🙁 😯 🙁

Perhaps this was misread: I meant that it feels good to me whan someone logs that the coordinates posted on a cache I have placed are right on.
(I may not have as many hides as some but I would hope that with even an older model GPSr that the coords could be better than 60-80 feet off)

Most of the difficult hides are made that way by bad coordinates…..

IMHO, I think that this is the biggest pet peeve of alot of cachers.
Without people placing caches, the sport suffers, but with people placing caches with bad coordinates, the sport suffers. I understand that not every cacher that places a cache can take an average of coordinates over days and days to take into account the weather, the atmospheric conditions, the satellites etc. What we can do is take a couple of readings, walk some distance away and come back, a couple of times to get within a couple of seconds as accuracy/signal strength may vary from time to time. I don’t know about everyone but it feels good to me when someone logs that the coords are right on.

    1800 Wow 😀

I’d like to think that when that milestone comes about for me that it wouldn’t be so commonplace 😉 😉

Way to go Justin, glad Door County was good to you.

in reply to: Logging DNFs #1881034

I agree that DNFs are useful to the cache owners as the logs help notify there may be a problem with the cache and sometimes they are useful in adjusting difficulty ratings. (sometimes they’re just fun to see how many cachers you can stump before they find it  ) DNFs also alert other cachers to the status of these caches, that they may take more time than first thought or that the container is/may be missing. With that information, the cacher can choose to try or not.

I also think that some feel that DNFs are black marks on their abilities.
Come on !! it’s not like they are -1 on your total finds.

Again, as always, just my opinion.

in reply to: While we are on the topic.. Favorite FTF? #1880744

I’m one of those with only a handful of FTFs so it isn’t too hard to pick out the most memorable one.

TALL TALE #2 Sagasu’s Spectacular Sunflower would have to be the one.

On a cold April day when this went active, I had the day off and decided to make the attempt. Somewhere along the trip over, I was talking with Sagasu and told him I was on my way. He tried to deter me by saying that there were others who chose not to even attempt it as we had just received 1/4-1/2 inch of new snow and the first waypoint would be very difficult to locate. Still I came, and was at least going to give it the old college try. I actually found the first waypoint pretty quick, and went on to the second. That turned out to be the most difficult at that time as I had no clue what I was looking for. I had not seen the variations those stupid little nanos could used in. Finally some visual hint tipped me off and I made the find of WP2. The trek to the final went pretty well other than the numerous trip hazards on the way but the huge, well stocked final made it all worth it.
Oh, did I mention that Sagasu showed up while I was looking for WP2?
It was a treat for him too watching me make the FTF.

Now, because of expansion at the cemetery and with the highway at that location, this cache has been moved out to the WiOuWaSh trail, renamed
Sagasu’s Spectacular Sunflower on the WiOuWaSh, and newly reactivated MAKING IT OPEN FOR A NEW FTF SEEKER and loggable a second time for those who found it in the original location. I have been challenged to make the FTF on the new location too, but may not have the time so have at it!!!

Note: The FTF on this one fell at 530pm to Sparse Grey Hackle and the Blondie Bloodhound. Don’t let that stop you though, check out the log.

If you “go back in time” the upload won’t take long(unless everyone else is doing it too)
. See the 10/31/07 new developments on the site. (shhhh. it’s a secret).
