Absolutely!
Like it says in some of my other answers, I was a Church Youth leader, Cub Scout Leader. I didn’t mention in other posts that I am also on the fundraiser committee with the Fire Dept. which is a huge huge undertaking. Lots of planning and leg work. I’m committed to what ever I sink my heels into. The only thing that gets in the way is work but if you don’t work you don’t eat.
Will I have time and energy and be committed? Definitely! Sit back and watch the dust fly!

WHAT HAVE YOU ORGANIZED
Iāll start with being a Boy Scout Leader. I decided to start this venture with my son, Labzone Jr. For 2 years I organized events for our troop to include, weekly meetings, camping, working on merit badges which included many different activities. I also ran the popcorn fundraiser for our area. I enjoyed having the opportunity to instruct and spend time with the boys in our troop.
I was a youth group leader for 4 years at church. During this time I would run/organize youth camp and Sunday and Wednesday evening meetings for an average of 15 to 20 teenagers. I was also a Sunday school teacher during this time. I was asked to take on this position by the Pastor and I gladly accepted.
I worked with WPFF Radio Christian station in Sturgeon Bay. I donated my time to build the cabinets for the studio. I also assisted with their fundraisers for operating costs. I even climbed a 300 ft. radio tower to help install a transmitter station. I know, CRAZY right!!
I taught a segment on how to use a GPS during a Youth Aviation Day at the Cherryland Airport here in Sturgeon Bay and of course I incorporated geocaching into the mix. This included 10 different groups of approximately 12 kids with Scout Leaders and parents.
I hosted a Meet & Greet picnic this last year and also a Flash Mob event on 12/13/14.
GIVING BACK TO THE SPORT
First and foremost, the most important thing about geocaching is taking care of our environment.Ā Not only CITO but ensuring nature isnāt unnecessarily ātamperedā with.Ā I give back to the sport by sharing my excitement and creativity with others.Ā I love to instruct muggles on what geocaching is.Ā Itās critical to always keep an open mind and to encourage others to share their ideas.
I believe in the importance of geocaching being a family orientated event.Ā Today more than ever, it is families that are looking for more creative ways to spend quality time together. Itās awesome to see events include activities for all ages. I am in the process of putting together a major event in Door County that will include a geo-tour and possibly a human board game. Although it is still in the early planning stage at this time, I am very excited about making this happen sometime in the fall this year as an annual event.
Finally, Iād like to add that as much as we enjoy the hunt for new caches, itās important that we maintain our caches that we place.Ā Many of us work to assist others as we are out in the field by bringing supplies with us to help maintain caches we find and being prompt to let the owner know when their cache is in need of attention.Ā Unfortunately, it is disappointing to discover those that seem to be neglected and as such, I am sure it doesnāt advertise well for new geo-cachers. I do my best to maintain the ones I have put out and to assist others with theirs as I come across the need.
