ParticipantI discovered I missed a SW Wisconsin State Park — Belmont Mounds State Park. Why? It is not listed on the State Map and it is not listed on the State Park/Forest Visitor’s Guide. BUT it is listed on our WGA SP Series list. Well, I unfortunately did not load the SP query or review it before I planned my trip, as I was using the State Map for this. S0-o-o-o-o-o- Another Road Trip!
Look at the bright side – you don’t need to think up a reason for another road trip. Right!

ParticipantNot an E.A.A. Event was Not an Everyday Average Apathetic Event. It was Entertaining, Amicable, and Awesome! It was a pleasant meeting of locals and visitors from near and far.
Boo…and me so far away. I didn’t even realize it was EAA week. How strange is that after living in the valley for 30 years.

ParticipantHave you got your puzzle email from Geocaching headquarters? And do you have it solved? I suck at puzzles but did manage to solve this one (ok I admit I did have a hint to get me started)
Yup. Quick solve!

ParticipantFive years ago today – probably my most significant and memorable day of geocaching – with the Hitwoman. Who can remember what happened?
Something in a marsh?
Was that the day that I remember someone on TV telling the police about a lady borrowing his ladder for something in the park?
This is exactly that day. The ladder seemed to do the trick and it gave me an excellent vantage point for when the suspect left the scene – awkward – yes – but it certainly did help in the court room.
And do not listen to the Hitwoman – I have never broken ice in a marsh – okay maybe once….on the way to a LCG event. Thankfully, I could PAF to bring dry socks.

ParticipantHello Everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew of any good gadget caches in our area? I know there’s some good ones in Rhinelander, but I was wondering if we had any closer than that? Thanks for the help, Nvgtr
Not sure where your area is, but if you look at what caches are getting favorite points – that might help you locate some gadget caches. In my experience, they generally get a lot of favorite points.
And I agree – a bookmark list would be great!

ParticipantFrozen shoulder? I kind of remember that from the past? Too much chocolate or what causes it?

ParticipantIt was a Mr. GT & SS day yesterday – and we had some good luck – and we had some not so good luck. A couple of DNF’s on dead end hides. Still scratching my head…..

ParticipantOur son (Poohs Pal dad) and his SO are taking us and her parents out to eat tonight. I don’t know if they have exciting news (like maybe legalizing this relationship) or if they’re just taking us to dinner. They just got back from a music festival, where I guess people sometimes get married. Probably just going out to eat. No matter what…I don’t have to cook.
Order the lobster!

ParticipantDrinking my morning tea and just catching up on a few recent postings on the forum. Personally – I would hate to see the state divided as I always feel in anything the whole is greater than the sum of our parts. I have observed greater distribution of Board Members from around the state recently – and it seems that the current board members – as stated in a previous post – are very active, very involved and very committed. I am very thankful and appreciative of their time, energy, ideas and efforts. Serving on the BoD is not my “cup of tea” – and so I want to do everything I can to support and encourage those who give of their time so selflessly. I love that WGA events are rotated around the state – and no – I cannot always make it to each event – more often than not – this is because of a scheduling conflict – not distance. Let’s be honest – most veteran geocachers will travel great distances to find a geocache that satisfies a challenge, fizzy, jasmer, etc. Not only that, we will spend money to do so. I recall making a trip to Power Island (Michigan) four years ago to get a cache needed for my Jasmer. This involved a long drive, overnight at a hotel and a boat rental. I did not think twice about this – and most veteran geocachers are the same. In closing I just want to personally say thank you to every member of the current WGA BOD. You are all amazing and I am glad you each volunteer to do what you do – so that we – them individual members of the WGA – can enjoy so many different events and opportunities. Not only that – I appreciate that you make the WGA members aware of volunteer opportunities. Mr. LN and I will be volunteering at the 2016 WGA Wild Cakes & Stampede Sausages (GC6KQ92). This will be our third year in a row helping out with the Pancake Breakfast and we are happy to contribute. I am sure the organization and structure are not perfect – but then neither are any of us! I have just observed that the current BOD gives 110% to make sure that the rest of us can enjoy this great sport of geocaching. Enough now – new puzzles to solve…..and new places to bang my head when I can’t figure out how to solve said new puzzles.

ParticipantCongrats J&L on the grandchild! How fun. I have a red-bellied woodpecker that hangs on the gutter and hammers away. Not sure this is the best. Need to get some suet out. However, the orioles are flocking the grape jelly feeders and consuming in mass quantities. I have to refill 2-3 times a day. Looking to purchase stock in Welch’s – or find a cheaper outlet for grape jelly. Suggestions?

ParticipantNoonan, talk to Lack yet about your big plans?
Sent a message through Geocaching, but no word back yet.
I did not get a message. All I got was a friend request which I did accept.

ParticipantWe are moved – in the new digs – my daughter came over the weekend and helped me unpack about a zillion boxes – so it actually looks somewhat presentable. Waiting to understand what a new normal looks like….so strange after 30 years in Appleton – to be in a different place….
Looking for friends in the area….
