ATTENTION, ATTENTION…
It is with great pride that we can now announce the 47th and Final WGA State Park Geocache.
Many thanks to dcexplorer for taking up the Trail Boss mantle.
GC578B8 Rock Island: WGA State Park Series
We’re heading to Door county & Rock Island this weekend. Gonna get us some DC Explorer, Sagasu, Capt. Ed, & Northwoods Tom caches. 🙂
Sure wish I was around to join you guys! Have fun.

Now that is quite interesting. At 12 hours of driving a day….and cache stops along the way…

And a blizzard at the DQ at least once a day too!

I have to agree with WA on his recommendations and also CG on Toucans…yum!

We will be staying at the AmericInn….does it have lousy internet? I did not remember that. Oh well….cheap and close and booked already. We will arrive Thursday and leave Sunday. Plan is to help out at the pancake breakfast Sunday. Deerfest, huh? Can’t those people just sleep in their deer stands?

Oh my….only in Wisconsin! That is interesting. And of course I have heard of deer hunting. I grew up on a farm in SW Wisconsin. It was a way of life. 😆

Ecorangers mentioned that Deerfest is going on during the same weekend as the Cache Ba$h. What else is going on in West Bend that might be interesting to people from out of the area? Any “must see” attractions?

I hear you and would have to comment that it is very frustrating. I know I have had situations with my own placed caches where people have commented that I should change the difficulty rating. I might do that in the first couple of months after placing, but after that, it would be what it is so that it does not potentially affect someone working on a D/T challenge. I do understand that a cache can look different on the D/T depending on the season (summer or winter or spring), however, I think the CO needs to take that into account when placing and decide how to rate the cache so as to not change it when transitioning from season to season…

That is seriously very, very awesome! Congrats!

I am getting the wonderful opportunity to travel on a river cruise with my brother and mom for her 90th birthday. Any caching will of course be limited to wherever we have ports of call, but I certainly hope to try. We’ll be in Germany, Austria and Hungary. Other than language issues (I used to be conversationally fluent in German, used to being key) will my Garmin work as usual there? Anything else I might need to know? Thanks. I have plenty of overseas travel experience, but none related to caching.
Your Garmin will work just fine. You probably don’t have maps for Europe, but I am guessing you are not driving anyway. I have cached in Spain, Morocco, France, Portugal, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine without maps and done just fine. Be sure to check out the caches ahead of time – in case they are not in English. You can do a Google translate prior to your trip to make sure you understand what you need to know.

The Oregon 550 is on sale at Cabela’s right now for $229. It is being discontinued. A good unit.

Oh darn….I will be in Hawaii. So sad….kind of….I do like Mirror Lake State Park.
Kaneohe is just like Mirror Lake except not as scenic…and there are no WGA State Park caches there. Our sympathies go out to you.
Why do I get the feeling this is not genuine. Don’t be haters! We have invested several dollars in the university education of this child. We deserve to reap the benefits!
