Very awesome. Oh so close to 1K. Do you have a cache picked out? Congrats on 900.
Not yet, I’m wondering about the timing of it all. We have a vacation to Hawaii in 10 weeks. 1K in Hawaii sounds pretty good to me, especially since I love EarthCaches. But it would be kind of fun to attempt a 5/5 for my 1K…
Where are you going in Hawaii? I was just there and depending on your desitination could suggest some caches.

Pay the $9.99 and get the geocaching app. I used it all of the time to check attributes and more logs than I can get on my Oregon. Shows description, size, hints, etc.

Also, attributes are there for a reason and they are helpful. I do not always look at them ahead of time, but with a smartphone, I often look at them in the field.
Not everyone has a smartphone, 🙁 and the attributes are not on the Garmin.
I realize that – so my advice would be if look at them ahead of time or hang with someone who has a smartphone and be sure to cache only in areas where your friend gets coverage!

I would volunteer to help out but I’m afraid my track record with WGA events isn’t very good so I probably shouldn’t volunteer. Last year’s campout I had to cancel at the last minute with a sick child. Then for the chilli event I had to cancel because of a baptism. I’m going to get a reputation! How about you just put me to work at the campout if by some miracle I actually manage to get there?
If beccaday does show up, be sure to provide her with picures of poison ivy! 😮

the best part of Lacknothing falling off the boardwalk…..it was a GPS less cache, I don’t know what she was doing looking at it, you need a compass to find the cache, there are no final coords!!
so whatever she was doing, it had nothing to do with my cache
EXCUSE ME? I was using my GPS to figure out how many feet to the next landmark you gave me. I could have sued you because I think I ended up with a bruise that day. It was tramatic to say the least. Besides, I am still not so sure that Walkingadventure didn’t push me.
And on the picture of RB and the thin ice – it does seem a bit obvious that the ice might be thin – but what do I know – just seems like the open water would be a good indication. Seriously, though, a book published with our funniest stories while geocaching would be a hoot – with pictures included.

Hey Ralph…I am over halfway there to getting 100 earthcaches. Can I just log it as a find now. I promise I will do the rest soon! 😀

Read the page – it is that simple! Whether you cache paperless or not. The description is there for a purpose – and often times there is specific information in the description – such as park hours, or a request to only search for a cache during daylight hours. Also, attributes are there for a reason and they are helpful. I do not always look at them ahead of time, but with a smartphone, I often look at them in the field. Reading the page seems to be common sense to me. In my humble opinion, not reading the cache page is like not paying attention to road signs when driving.
Officer: Do you realize you were going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone?
Driver: Was it only 55 mph? I don’t read road signs. I am a signless driver! The views expressed here are that of myself only and do not necessarily represent that of the WGA board.

So lacknothing what you are saying is some local cachers have rocks rattling around in there head and just don’t understand the game as well as others? Why I thought some of the more senior cachers that have been making finds for awhile have set the example years ago that some of us newbie are trending to…. I mean really this is an awesome sport for the family I totally agree but the ftf is like a getting candy when you where a little kid and thats a great feeling when your creeping up in the age.
Do you mean the rocks over by that one cachce of yours?

Congrats sevencards on 1500 smileys! A great accomplishment and sounds like a great cache for a milestone. Here is to the next 1500.

Personally, I like an FTF every once in awhile, but have lost a bit of the excitement in grabbing FTF’s. Kudos to the Milwaukee area cachers who do a great job in this area spreading the wealth. I know of cachers down there who when four new caches are placed in an area, they chase one to get an FTF and leave the other three for their fellow cachers to log as FTF’s. Now that is what the sport is about. Wish we had more of that type of attitude in the valley.
As far as the Cache Ba$h, I like the way they do it now – making it very family friendly. Last year our group got a number of the Cache Ba$h caches, but we also did other caches in the areas we were. We enjoyed the slower pace immensely and stopped to smell the roses along the way.
For us, geocaching is about the the adventure, the quality of the caches, the challenge of the puzzles and the fabulous friends we have made along the way!

Every boardwalk should have railings to keep unsuspecting people form falling off boardwalks. A petition has been started.
This is such an awesome idea. I could have been seriously hurt.
They should make sure they have bumper pads on the railings too.I suppose you want roadside ditches next to cemeteries to be labeled also, especially when there is deeeeep snow. 😆
“Be it resolved that any cemetery that has a ditch on the front entrance, hereto must be labeled properly as having a ditch. The roadway must be clearly marked with neon flags at least 6 feet high spaced no less than 2 feet apart.”
Let’s face it – cemeteries with ditches can be very dangerous in the winter!
Enough said. Marshes should also have warnings and some type of protection.
