Did you happen to see some skinny white dude had 5 FTF’s Sunday in Bjornson? And what makes things worse, I hear that he was over here from Minnesota. I don’t know about those Minnesota guys. Except for their overly large Units, their skewed caching sense, and their modesty…, they are really up to no good.

I feel as though this topic need to be addressed in a little more detail. Just a little similarity here. My mum is from Prince Edward Island, my father is from Georgia, so in therory I could vote for the Prime Minister of Canada, and the President of the USA, But I only vote in the US because this is where I do all my living. I do all my caching (practically) in Wisconsin, but I’m not from there. That should warrant concideration about becoming a member.

I think having the ‘friend’ title tells people who don’t know just how dedicated I am, that I’m just a curious by-standard. I don’t even belong to the Minnesota Geocaching association if that matters. I do the overwhelming majority of my caching in Wisconsin (check my stats). My dedication to caching in Wisconsin to Wisconsin’s environment warrants concideration if nothing else.

I totally agree with Marc. I think the Wisconsin Delorme Challenge should be the determining factor. I realize that an out of state cacher could come to Wisconsin and complete it in a month or week or whatever the common misconception is. But it’s funny, I don’t see a single non-Wisconsin cacher having completed it yet, or even in the top 20 for that matter. Oh, I’m sorry, there is one. 😀 It seems as though it might take quite a bit of commitment to caching in the State of Wisconsin to complete that Challenge. That commitment should warrant a person’s Membership to the WGA.

    Hey Ralph,
Very funny… I know that hazing isn’t in there. But as the member of the ‘8 Nads Crew’ with the fewest finds…… The first round is on me :).

I’ve got a good one from this last Sunday, coming back from my Good Friday Delorme run, I stop in Tigerton,WI to clear a page. Anyone who knows me know I just follow the arrow on the GPS60. Well, the arrow pointed to this trailor park just east of the city. There was a trail so I took it till I came to a fence. Maybe 2 meters tall (7 feet). There were no signs posted on it, so I thought it was just part of the cache experience, So I climb the fence. Follow the arrow till I get within 200 feet of the cache, there’s a river. The Embarrass River I find out later. I’m not going to be denied the find obviously…200 feet to clear a page, so I walk along the shore looking for a place to cross for about 20 minutes. This river is really shallow, but the current just rips. Total white water. You have no idea how close I came to walking across that river. I finally decided to go back to the car and look for a different approach. So I drove into town and there it was, those two caches that I was looking for are in an ATV park. So I made the finds while staying nice and dry… just a little muddy. I have issues! 😀

Wow!! One Grand eh? I’m going to feel like the odd man out Saturday morning. Just being around so much greatness. Hopefully a little of that greatness will come my way by osmosis. Great Job Justin!!

Who is that good looking devil in the Canadiens Jacket?

in reply to: Brown County Shoots Self In Geocaching Foot #1872368

Did myself a pretty hard core Delorme Run over the weekend. 12 pages in 36 hours. Because of Brown County’s decision regarding geocaching, when I hit page 68 it was in Kewaunee County and I spent Saturday night in Marinette. I own personal form of expression. 😯

Absolutely Marc!!! I wouldn’t even attempt the Minnesota Delorme Challenge even though I live in Minnesota. No telling how many of the pages are ‘KB trash in the woods with wrong coordinates’ caches. When (not if) I complete the Wisconsin Delorme Challenge, can someone petition for me to become a full member?

My goal for 2007 is to complete the Wisconsin Delorme Challenge by the first week in August. And then hopefully get an honorary Wisconsin Geocaching Member title rather than my current ‘friend’ title to mark that accomplisment. I’d also like to be up to 1500 finds by year end.

Hello from Minnesota: Come visit our Root River Bike Trail. It goes for about 45 miles, it is completely paved and completely free to use. I know of at least 4 caches on it between Rushford and Lanesboro, plus if you’re down this way April 28th, there will be a few more (temps) in conjunction with the CITO Event that I’m hosting in Lanesboro that day.

I just got done e-mailing the assistant director myself:

    Dear Mr. Hartman,
I am writing today to ask about your county’s move to charge a fee for the placement of geocaches in county parks. I’m from Rushford,MN, but I travel to your part of Wisconsin quite frequently to geocache. I love the area’s natural beauty as well as all the friendly people. As an avid cacher, I feel as though this change in policy will only discourage caching in your area. Besides the economic benefits of attracting geocachers to your area (lodging, gas, food, etc), geocachers are very environmentally conscious. CITO… leave things better than you found them. I’ve personally cached in a part of Wisconsin where caching is totally promoted (Waukesha). So on behalf of myself, and the countless other geocachers that enjoy this incredible activity, could your department please reconsider this change in policy?

    Thank You for Your Time,

    Brett Cargal Rushford Minnesota
