Did you meet the Head Mistress of Team Roaming Pack at the Picnic? She knows fungi!! Didn’t you ever find her ‘Mile’ cache- Zuma one fun guy?
This thread as be assimilated… Resistance is Futile!
I was thinking that there should be an ‘Ask the Expert’ thread on here. I don’t know how many times I’ve been caching and seen some strange bird and wondered what exactly it was. If it’s not a pheasant or a turkey, I’m lost. We have our own ornithologist that can answer our questions. How does that sound Gwyn?? 😀
Did I hear something about a night cache (as he looks at the Bandits with that strange smirk on his face). I’ll be heading to Wausau as part of my yearly 4 days off Thanksgiving run…. after all I celebrate Thanksgiving in October. A night cache is reason enough to hit Stevens Point… the only thing that would make it better would be an Earthcache in Point… hint, hint! 😀

Birds? You’ve got my attention, Brett. What did they look like? Did you figure out what they were?
Still Earthcache-ownerless in West Salem…..
Is that a Dodo? I got a wasp / hornet bite (or sting) at “Quaking in Volo” that hurt for three days! That sucker was almost as big as the bird in the picture!!!
Hey don’t feel bad I have a Earthcache burning a hole in my pocket too…….it’s been done for two weeks….still waiting for permissions from the location I want to put it. Even if I get the permission (which will be no earlier than Thursday…and possibly not at all) it will still be another week or so before it gets published. What was it Yoda said….”patience young Jedi.”
It’s odd you mention getting stung in Northern Illinois hitting an Earthcache, I was hitting an Earthcache near Round Lake,IL called ‘We Kame, We Conquered’ and I git stung by this huge wasp. Must be an Illinois thing? 😮
P.S. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be taking Anne up on her offer to accompany them on their next hard core Earthcache run…. how awesome is that?
You know what, come to think of it, I’ve seen alot of those kind of birds. I saw them in Grantsburg (Crex Meadows), I saw them at the WGA Campout at Hartman’s Creek as well as Volo. Your picture… WOW What an amazing shot. That baby one looks so funny, it’s parents, so graceful. Nice Job!
I thought that would get your attention!!

What Earthcache did you guys do in Kentucky?
When I was there in August, I hit one called ‘LBL-Iron Furnaces’.. the history there was just erry. That one was located just east of Paducah.Did you do ‘Quaking in Volo’ in Illinois? I saw the biggest birds I’ve ever seen there…. couldn’t find the meat eating plant though. 😀
We did Quaking but there were no Earthcaches in KY that we could get to, so we did a cpl of traditionals.
Chomp Chomp!!
I have no patients either. I’ve been waiting for the notification for your Earthcache too. The next closest Earth cache for me is in the cities and I don’t care much for his caches.
You know, the article mentioned fashioning this Event after the one that they had in Eau Claire. I see zero similarities between the two. The one in Eau Claire had physical caches associated with it. You’d print a sheet, take it to the caches, punch your sheet. Then, at the end of the Event, you’d turn your sheet in for a free Bling. There was a beginning and and end. Competition for FTF’s on the Event caches. How was the Lacrosse Event similar to this?

Congratulations Zuma!!! 5 grand! Wow!! Thanks for carefully placing my ‘Nut Sack’ in Oregon 😀
To say that I’m totally impressed (and a little jealous) would be an understatement. So, I know that when one meets the Pope, you’re suppose to kiss his Ring. So the next time I’m in the presence of the Almighty Earthcache Goddess herself, what exactly do I need to kiss? 😀 Outstanding Job!! They’ll need to establish a new Master Level to commemorate your accomplishment!!
Correct!!
Now something harder!
I learned this from a cache in SE Minnesota. What town is the ‘Sinkhole Capital of the USA’?
I know an interesting piece of trivia that I learned from a Wisconsin Cache, I learned this from a virt. just out side Antigo,WI.
What is Wisconsin’s state dirt?
They should have made this thing in Lacrosse into an Event. I have to work tomorrow anyways so I don’t feel so bad about having to miss. As for the infamous page 104… I lost alot of sleep over that one, with some invaluable hints from The Bandits, it turned out not being so bad. I believe there is a cache right across the river in Michigan that is part of their ‘4 Corners’ series. That one being the furthest west in Michigan I was too single minded on my Delorme quest when I was up there to hit that one. There is also a nice virt. in Ironwood. I’m a sucker for virts.
