Thanks for the congrats thread! I actually have a few pages left to get but I’m hoping to get them soon! We saw those FTFs come in as we were in Tomah on the way back… even though it was nearing midnight and we had been in the car since 6 AM the trill of an FTF was enough to keep us going!
According to the rental car paperwork we logged 1,573 miles in one weekend. Enterprise has a “family fun weekends” discount program going for Friday to Monday rentals where you can get 50% off. We got our Ford geoTaurus for just $17 a day!
Congratulations Dad! We’re looking forward to the free room & board when we tackle more pages up your way! 😀
Just spotted this one after seeing my brother’s post. A guy so nice deserves two threads! Here’s to 500 more! 😀
Congrats Doug!!!! I remember when you were just a muggle! 😛
I had a blast too. Congrats & heartfelt thanks to all who put in the hard work to place caches and setup the event. There were many great caches out there. It was impressive to see the coordination pay off and so much support from local businesses. Everyone did a great job.
I had expected a lot more of the caches to be park & grab but afterwards I was happy they were all good hides and all fun.
Until then I’d never been to the Eau Claire area before and I’m happy to say I enjoyed it so much I’m already planning a return trip!
Glad to meet you guys on the trail too. Maybe next time we can spend a little more time getting to know each other. I need to learn your secrets! You guys are caching machines!
Thanks! Nice coin!

I’ve also noticed gc.com’s site being sssslllloooooowww in the last few weeks…
Sometimes I get the “too busy” error and I just go away. The worst part about this is that we’ve been missing notifications recently too. A group of us locals love the thrill of the race to FTF and have been disappointed to find out about new caches in our area that never had a notification.
Being a software engineer I can appreciate what they must be going through over there with whatever it is (bugs or scaling issues??) I just hope they figure it out soon!
I just launched a series called “Tanks for the nanos”. I wanted to get a few more “urban” caches going in the area and the guys and I dreamed up this idea. It gets you to drive all around & experience nearly every nook & cranny of the La Crosse area.
Check them out!

I wanted to post my thanks & congratulations to Jeremy too. This new site looks really great and your hard work is much appreciated. WI’s new site is something we can be proud of.
I’m not sure what the fuss is about. I think we should be worried about the quality of location and cleverness of the cache. If I’m drawn down some short boring trail to a pile of sticks atop an ammo can two feet from the trail again I am going to scream! Let’s try to get caches out there designed to take people to interesting and/or historical places. If that’s not possible, let’s try for clever hides. What we should be complaining about is boring caches! Just my two cents…
