I guess I just lucked out recently. My “old” Garmin 76csx which was three years old quit after extended use 😳 and I loved that unit so much that I bought a new one. Well of course the program did not recognize it and so my maps were all locked again. When I called Garmin (I had to wait on hold for close to 40 minutes!) 🙄 they were very helpful after I told them I had bought another one of their products and they gave me a new unlock code FOR FREE!
😯 😯 😯 EGADS! I found the envelope with my check in it in my purse! HOLEY SMOKES! I really want my coins so I am sending it out first thing in the morning. Me bad… 😳 hope that is okay??? It suks to get old and forgetful 🙄 sheesh
It definitely has advantages, when it is winter – no bugs or poisonous plants. I prefer to go though only when there is not a great deal of snow, I am not fond of digging in snow. It does feel good to get out of the house and get outside on those nicer winter days. I agree with the others that I run pocket queriez to find only winter friendly caches, which I found tend to be mostly micros (at least that has been my experience). The bigger stuff is usually lower to the ground.
Sure, I’ll third it – ha! 😀
So how do ya all feel about adding a bit of variety. This year, most of it was pretty straight forward caching.
We were discussing a few multis, a puzzle or two (easy), coordinate only caches (no hints, info, nothing, just coords) to add a little something different and spice it up a notch, what do you say?
Last question, would you still come if there was not a large prize drawing at the end? I am pretty sure there will be, but would that make a huge difference on your wanting to attend next year?
dee – you are going to need it, remember you guys have to approve 50 more caches 😯 😛 One more hour may be doable, we wanted to get the prize drawing done and people home before it got too late, figured they could come back on Sunday or whenever since they are permanent, but I will definitely mention it! Thanks for the feedback so far. 😀
What a fun thing to do!!! If we ever go up there, we will definitely stay there. 😀
Nice to meet you! Hope to hear some great stories of your newbie adventures in this fun and addicting sport/hobby! 😀 Welcome to the boards.
😀 I am so excited about this coin and everybody’s work that went into it. I am almost afraid to go over THERE *shivers* to that OTHER forum eek. The icon is also really cute! 😀 Web site was easy to use and I was so happy to find that I could pay with a check since I don’t have a credit card anymore – cool!
Others may disagree, but unfortunately he really did not do anything illegal (nobody actually caught him urinating in public). I don’t think there is much you can do. 😕 This is one reason I have begun to make many of my caches premium because people can’t find them with just satellites. I would just shut them down for awhile and maybe in six months or so try again. Just my opinion. I don’t think it is worth the hassle.
An indoor winter getaway like at one of the Dells big convention centers/hotels would be a blast! You could probably get a block of rooms for cheaper than the standard price. A great FAMILY getaway. Maybe have a treasure hunt sort of activity inside for families as well. 😀
I like the WSQ idea and will get around to changing mine eventually. The only problem I have is when the cache owners name the hides similarily and then in my Palm, it is a pain to scroll through each one since only several letters show up on the main cachemate page. I have the same problem with the Another Walk in the Park series…
People/families place headstones to mark where their loved ones are buried and to show everyone that they existed. They are meant to be seen and read. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with looking at these (that is what they are intended for or else someone would have just buried them in an unmarked grave right?) Outside of being there when a funeral is going on, I can’t see how walking through a graveyard even if you are walking on a grave is disrespectful. I visit my family members graves all the time and you have to walk on them to see the stone and place a floral or wreath. People who do geneology also study stones, nobody seems to mind that. No disrespect intended, but I don’t think the residents will mind. If they could, they would probably smile at a group of kids walking by on a beautiful fall day don’t ya think?…. 😀
Great post Cheeto – thank you! 😀 I was looking for other people’s opinions and you brought up a lot of excellent points. I will try the ones you suggested.

i dont get it…
Clarification: If you wanted to be able to try to do the puzzle, and can’t figure it out, you could still get the cache and also the answer to the puzzle inside the cache. That would be IF you chose to do it that way. Then people who are not able to figure it out, would not only learn how to do the puzzle by getting the answer, but also would get to retrieve the cache. I do admire all the time and work that goes into creating creative puzzles. Many areas don’t have people as helpful as Marc to help with classes, etc… to figure some of these out. This would be a great opportunity for the cache owner to not only put a great puzzle out there, but also teach his methodology on how he created it and what the answer is. This would help in later searches for puzzles by what you learned from the others. It was just a suggestion that was put out there and I wanted to see how people felt about it – not that I necessarily agree with it – yet.
😕 SS I am not real smart, I know it and admit it. (who else would get their brand new PT Cruiser stuck in a swamp at 10 degrees trying to save a few feet of walking)? 😳 But, being in Appleton this past weekend – I honestly tried to solve some of your puzzles, some of which have few finders. I did not have much luck. I did, however, figure out one and thought myself quite the smartypants. There was a suggestion over on THE OTHER BOARDS (yeah those), that puzzle cache owners publish the cache location and then give the answer t the puzzle inside the cache. That way in case you can’t figure it out, you could still find the cache and it would be found by all – everybody wins. You could also have the challenge of doing the puzzle. Ever considered that for your puzzles? Just curious. I am thinking of setting up a few of my own and may try to do it this way. Any thoughts?
