😆 “wolf fart mushroom.” Dang, now that is a funny name. I have nothing else to add other than GETMEOUTDOORS has a totally cool avatar which would have made a great WGA logo! 😀

We were very careful to try to make sure to space things out quite far to avoid the scenerio discussed above. The fact that there were so many cachers there, well over 300, meant that eventually some people would run into others. From the logs I have gotten though, nobody seemed to mind as everyone was in a good frame of mind and enjoying meeting other cachers, even if they were at the same cache site. We can only hope that next year brings such a fantastic weather day and people together – we all had so much fun! 😀

Now that could explain why some of mine have gone missing as well. 😯 A very good point that I obviously never thought of.

These all ALL permanent caches so if you want to leave coins and travel bugs in them = feel free! Many of the caches are larger size caches so bring your swag also as well as your coins and travel bugs. The caches are starting off with some swag in them, but we are hoping to have folks bring their own signature items and other fun things to trade. Jeremy answered most of the other questions. It definitely may get crowded at some of the caches, this can’t be avoided with an event this size. We would recommend rethinking your strategy if you want to not wait you might want to perhaps start your searches on the caches located further out of town and work your way back in. West Bend also has a farmer’s market in the morning so to avoid traffic, this would be a great idea for parking, etc… also.

How do they log their finds with no computer? Just curious? ❓ If they have an account on gc.com, when you go to register together – just tell them what you told me. Teams will consist of anyone with an account/screenname on gc.com according to the rules set on the cache page. The people doing the registration will have all the info on how people logged a will attend or with how many, and when etc… so they will be checking to make sure it is fair for all.

I think it is getting close to 375, last meeting on wed was around 350 or so and some have signed up since.

When planning an event the size we were hoping to get and provide adequate support materials, we needed a number. We have to print booklets, we have goodie bags to hand out, teaching booklets and need to know how many of these things to bring, etc… We don’t want to run short for sure so that is why the cut off is for the main prizes. Anyone can still come and socialize, have fun and find the caches and not even worry about the stamp booklet. We still have a prize drawing for them too, even though they may have not registered by yesterday. We are focusing on emphasizing caching in West Bend/Wisconsin area and promoting it to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone, we just needed to get an idea how many would be there or it could be a logistical nightmare with downloads, parking, you name it. 😀

PC, I can’t tell you how many times that exact scenerio has happened to me. I definitely do not want to wander onto someone else’s property by accident – I had this happen once as a newbie. I was looking for a trail near the Sussex area and found what I thought was a trail and parking spot. I had a very angry homeowner come after me, a long story, but the bottom line is he freaked me out so bad I went home and bought pepper spray the next day. That is why I really want to be sure I am parked where I should be and know where I should be going in. The park ones are different and I can see TDJ point also, but I have learned after many swamp mishaps to STAY ON THE TRAIL and not take short-cuts anymore, nope! 🙄

Thanks Mr. G! That is very helpful. Especially about the road construction. Wish we could make the birthday party, but unfortunately I have to work. Thanks for placing more permanent caches!

It is just so helpful to be able to know where the trails start, where to park, etc… For instance if anyone has done the bugline in Sussex – where the heck do you park?

The Bugline is only 12 miles long so if you took your bike and parked at one end you would only have to ride 24 miles to grab all of the caches. That would solve your autorouting problem, now all that would remain is what to do about your sore #*@.

12 MILES 😯 😮 Now that would be a long ride, but at least I could get them all even with a sore hiney 😀 . Too bad my bike has no gears to make it go or any way to haul it right now 🙁 I guess that a bike is the best way to attack those though, I will have to try for them next summer.

No kidding about routes close to a highway! If the cache is close to a major highway the autorouter thinks it is ON the highway so it sends you around and around and around. I tried to find the Potter’s Field in Green Bay – ha! The GYPSY got turned to off after a few circutaneous driving motions and I had to use my brain and common sense (what there is of it anyways) 😛
