At one time, I WAS a happy geocacher…. I struggled through hours of head scratching to figure out how to go paperless. With great delight – I did eventually figure it out (was not TOO difficult). With my new used Palm, GSAK and Mapsource, the world was at my fingertips! No more opening the car door and having papers flying out everywhere – I could roam with only my Palm and GPS! 😛
Then (gloomy music) the dark days began. I bought a new computer with Windows Vista… 😡 No longer compatible with my Palm, or Mapsource, I am now back to using paper again unless I can borrow my daughter’s laptop.
Moral Lesson: If you work with paperless and it is working well with your computer and Palm hardware, don’t get Windows Vista – at least not yet. I am hoping to find someone who has made it all work so by the time the mountains of snow melt, I can be a free and happy cacher again.

http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=5142d5a4-ec79-4d0c-afcc-18e9b881cd55Current GOAL: I’m tired and I’ve had a hard life. I just want to take a “load” off. I want to visit caching events and cachers where they live. If you find me in your company and you don’t want me any more feel free to drop me off at a friendly cachers doorstop in the middle of the night, or i’m weather proof and I can hang out at a remote cache site.
Pretty funny, we signed the lid and then remembered to put the lid back down 😛
😳 Maybe that is why their name is the “Bandits” 😆 😆
I have not gone either – afraid I won’t find a darn thing under all that snow. Did set out one new one though and that made me feel better.
Well, I know for one I probably added to your work load a bit 😳 so thanks for all your help! Spend your free time now looking for all the ones you approved – ha! 😛
😆 😆 😆
Log ’em how you want – have fun, it HURTS nobody. To the contrary – if someone is finding happiness by getting a few hundred extra smilies and enjoying this game – SO WHAT? There are so many things in this world to make us unhappy and sad, enjoy yourself. 😀 If you have the time and really want to know a “somewhat true” count for someone who logs temp finds, just subtract their event logs from their total. Rough estimate there. Being sarcastic now: Now quit worrying about everybody else’s stats and go out and find some caches. Okay off soap box and back to normal nice self… 😉 (edited to add: Last statement directed at folks from out of state or wherever who constantly grumble about this topic, not the original poster).
I agree that temp caches in general should not be allowed if they have a GC.com number. It is too much work for the reviewers. I also think if they put a “found event cache” way to log temp caches at events this whole subject could finally go away and make everybody happy including the critics. The powers that be, however, at GC.com don’t seem to want to hear it.
I wonder when people will start picking apart how many geocoins you find, discover, whatever. I realized the other day that a coin I was trying to log (accidentally) I had already in my inventory 😈 woooooo! me BAD! 🙄
😀 Congratulations on the birth of your “micro!” What a great time of year to have a new addition to the family – at the holidays. Best wishes.
Dang, why couldn’t you have placed it in West Bend. We could have used other sticks to beat each other to it! I WANT ONE…. okay gotta recheck those new caches listed this morning – quick! 😯
I go in the exact order, I am a bit fussy on that too. But play it however it pleases you – that is the fun part! 😀 My only exception to my own rule was when I hit 666 – I faked that find – did not even get it – nope.
ECH there is a geojail in North Dakota in a SWAMP 😯 This girl is never going there – ha! 😛
I am very happy for all the above mentioned things too!!! 😀
But I am also very thankful for my GPS, my alone time in the woods, my new interest in exercise and all the fun things I have seen and done. Thankful to Earth Angel for getting my rearend off the couch and out in the woods and swamps (well, maybe not the swamps 🙄 ) for so many great geocaching adventures.
Wow, thanks for the wake up call. I always do that stuff while driving. I won’t anymore. I have had several close calls too. 😳 I am glad you are okay!
😀 Thanks so much for the imput so far! Great! I think the temp caches are good from the standpoint that new cachers, cachers with disabilities, families with small children, etc… have easy access. We are working really hard to come up with locations here that are not already taken and could be converted to permanent caches right after the event. A scavenger hunt type idea would be great – good for the kids, etc… and all in one spot – will put that in the consideration pile along with all the other great ideas – PLEASE – keep them coming. Tami and I really want this to be successful and we are very grateful for any input our fellow Wisconsin geocachers can provide.
Another ?? would you buy a West Bend Wisconsin geocoin or pathtag if it were available?
Mine is this one Shipwrecked on Fantasy Island GCVP2P , just for the fun I have reading the creative logs and replying to some of them! 😆 (read a few, you will have a good laugh)
I am also very honored to have three caches on the Holy Hill grounds.
Welllll it’s not me! 😆 I watch some listings where I have dropped off my signature items or new pathtags to see if anybody mentions it. (So if you pick one of mine up, make my day and mention it – ha!) Unfortunately, people usually don’t put it in their logs if they pick stuff up or not anymore.
We will hopefully be in Appleton tomorrow and would be happy to help you! We could move them to Jackson or better yet, I leave for LA in two weeks and could even take one or two with me there if you are interested. Let me know how to meet you to pick them up or will they be in specific caches? 😀
