WHERE DID SIGNAL GET HIS NAME:“When developing the Geocaching.com web site, we realized that representing GPS technology as a device would ultimately mirror an existing design of one GPS unit manufacturer (Garmin, Magellan, Trimble, etc.). And considering the constant changes in the designs of GPS receivers – and their inevitable integration into existing devices like cell phones – we wanted a creative solution to represent the technology without locking ourselves into a design that would soon be obsolete.
We decided a fun way to represent GPS technology would be to give it a personality, so we decided on Signal the Frog. He’s not very bright but he knows where he is and can point you in the direction you want to go. He’s your GPS guide.”
Well, and because a green frog is cute…
HOW MUCH DOES THE GROUNDSPEAK BUILDING WEIGH?
Are you planning on stealing it like a giant trackable or trade it for something? I doubt it will fit in your caching pack… mine on the other hand.. you may have a chance.
How many caches could a cacher cache if a cacher could cache caches?
I’ve seen cachers claim to find 200-300 in a day, so the number is probably endless depending on if you sign the log, fake the log, cheat and find caches from the recliner while eating Cheetos… too many variables.
Why didn’t Bob’s Big Board of Caches become popular as GC.com did?
I have no idea who Bob is… next question.Where do all the former BOD members go after their terms???? They seem to fall off the side of the earth after they’re done? They are abducted by the lakeys and run on giant hamster wheels at the varying in weight building of Groundspeak to keep the computers running. They are usually never seen again. 😯
There I did my civil duty and answered page 1. My question, when are they going to change their page from booger green to something else – I am tired of looking at it and it makes my husband pick his nose when he looks at it. I’m just sayin
Several of my ammo cans from the bash got taken I hate to say and I can’t get out there and replace them. What a shame… 😕
I found out when you use the new cache submission form now, it alerts you to caches that have that NM posted. Some, surprised me – I never knew they were on there! I take pretty good care of my caches and they must have slipped by. I also as a newbie hider did not know how to get that thing off there, hopefully people know they only have to post an owner maintenance.
Big Jim, give ‘er – make it big and I’ll bring the plates!
These are all great ideas and I will present them to the Chamber Director at the next meeting. Thanks!
LOL! Now you men (and ladies), get out those cookbooks and get planning! I will be doing this and will provide a spot to store your cakes so start thinking of what you are going to make! I think hiding a FTF prize in a cake like a king cake is a hoot!! GO FOR IT! 😆
Good suggestions! I will definitely bring this up tomorrow at the meeting.
Anybody got anything else? Not sure how much time we will have, but I am open to hearing anything that you would think would be fun and will bring it up if it sounds feasible. 😀
I’ll bring it up again at the meeting tomorrow, but the thought is that the Chamber of Commerce (the name speaks for itself), wants the cachers out in the community buying the food from our local restaurants. We did have snacks, etc.. put on by the dance troupe. I can see if maybe the Chamber would allow them to sell brats or something – at least it benefits the dance team. Get back to you on it! 😀
I would be willing to help. I would be happy to help mail these out after school is out for me on June 13th. Just send me the stuff and I will sit with the remote and watch TV and address envelops and stick stamps. I’m not kidding. I really don’t mind. I believe I could even recruit my camohat geocaching ladies group to help me – it would be a fun activity.
Was there a winning coin design picked yet? Did I miss it somewhere?

They did give out more tickets for more spots filled in on the cards didn’t they?
Yes!
Team Black Cat is correct, this is may be an activity sponsored by the West Bend Chamber who runs the Cache Bash. Not the WGA. The WGA is a great part of our event and does many things for us including the pancake breakfast on Sunday.
This was another fun thing to add to the event.

I’m not fond of mega events. I’m more suited for smaller events with like 10-30 people attending at a local restaurant. Eat, share geocaching stories, maybe hit a cache or two near the location.
Too much crap going on at mega events that they are on my ignore list.
Sorry.
No need to apologize although your avatar fits your remark – LOL!! 😆
To each his own, that is the fun part about the whole geocaching game. Everybody can find something they like and somethings they don’t like and nobody is making you do any of it…
Bingo cards – sound like they still are popular then? Happy to do them if they are still something people enjoy. The stamp booklet to prove you were at a cache was a bit of a blurry mess last year due to the rain, but I guess there are people out there who like these too!

. . . What if the WBCB committee chose not to put out new caches, . . .
Now why would they do that?
Out of space maybe?
We are definitely not out of space! LOL! 😆 We have some great stuff in the cooker for this year, I was just speaking to another committee member about some fun things to do this year, different from last. We won’t disappoint – promise! 😀
The only way I could see someone doing that would be this: I am the hider in the family, and my other family members are under my account. IF they would go out and find it, I guess maybe then?
Personally, I don’t do this – but have seen the above scenerio mentioned.
I know, the gun locks. Groan. I am the guilty party on that – well sort of. I got them from the Sherriff’s Department and from my understanding (I don’t own a gun or hunt) they are valued at between 5-10 dollars. Next year, we will perhaps have less or just give them out to people who want them. I think they are great, but maybe not for the drawing.
P.S. Find all those Angry Birds eggs yet LB7?
