Eigh Eigh thank you captain! 😀
One thing you may not know, is that geocaching events in general are not supposed to be based around the act of caching itself (yeah, I know – like going to a golf conference and playing checkers). The cache page in the past has been scrutinized by Groundspeak for “focusing’ on geocaching even when we have so many other activities on the agenda for the weekend. That is another reason we want to keep the focus off of the,” how many did you get” aspect. It is really not fair either to those who are physically challenged and can’t get their card filled to offer a prize for those that do – just my opinion. The Chamber already gives you a whole bag of goodies and a free day of fun – plus tons and tons of door prizes. I think that is plenty, but that is just my opinion. 😀
Cachepoint? I will have to check that out. This thread has been so helpful. I just downloaded GSAK this morning on my new computer and I think I have to reregister or something, jahnfamily told me you have to do that?
Oh boy… wonder if I can sneak over there and nobody would miss 350 outa the checkbook… 😯 I REALLY WANT ONE! Dumb question tho – 😳 embarrassed to ask, but how does it get new caches? Do you have to upload them in pocket queries or does it just “do it on its own?”
Oh such great info folks thank you! I don’t have an I phone, but I do have an android. I will check into all the info you were helpful enough to provide and see what works best. I plan on having an awesome geocaching summer so hope I can find a system that works again! Thank you!!!!! 😀
Fantastic! I would be happy to lend a hand – I can’t the end of July, but keep me posted on when you have it. I would also be interested in placing a cache literally on their doorstep with geocaching info and trail maps inside for the people who want to try caching in the park – some of the already available geocaching flyers and of course a few golf balls and quarters for swag 😆 🙄
Thank you all for your replies. I have not been to a “class” since Marc’s first one years ago that taught paperless on the Palm. I have used that without difficulty until this recent boggle. I did not even realize the Oregons gave you cache info. I may look into one, if they are not too expensive. Are they worth the money? 😕
Actually you get TICkets! The more caches you find, the more tickets you get. So I guess you do get a prize for filling up your card AND you get the satisfaction that you did it!
😀
I forgot to mention that if this is your fifth cache bash, there will be special events/prizes for that so watch the cache page.Next time, take your car – it’s what I would do… 😕
We purposely try to avoid a race type Bash for the reasons stated above. People tend to speed (a few people got pulled over the first year), park where they shouldn’t, not put the caches back properly, and try to cheat. It is better to keep it a fun, relaxed family-type weekend. If you want a race type cache, check out the cache series “The Amazing Race” by Dr. Dolittle and Goldie Diggers. They always put out amazing stuff and I am sure this will be Amazing – GC3BQ68 😀

Find it amusing that this topic is in the new posts section, started my day out with a smile! 😆
Me too! Also, I can just see the look on Mr. Greenthumbs face when that thing came flying out! 😆
😆 😆 😆 I’m sorry, but I am LMAO! That is one funny picture, it is totally something I would do – only with my car….
I always know it’s poison ivy because the three leaves and they hang down a bit. Just google a picture of poison ivy and you will see many. I am highly allergic to it so I am always careful to watch for it and carry along the anti-poison 😯 ivy stuff.http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=poison+ivy+pictures&id=13B65825F68F9EE3FE
Thanks everyone, seems like it will be okay to do it with an elevation reading. I did find a nearby sign that explained that areas elevation so I could use that as a backup for those that don’t have the capability. I appreciate everyone’s suggestions and answers! 😀
There are other hiders in West Bend area who have put out quality hides and PNG’s too. I know which cache owner you are referring to in this post. That CO has also done many, many fun and quality hides. I agree, if you don’t like them, don’t do them. These CO have hidden and given a lot back to the geocaching community over the years with their time in many ways. Why not e-mail the CO and tell them about it personally rather than posting here? 😯 It makes it sound like West Bend is nothing but crummy hides and that is far from the truth. 🙁 The cache bash committee has plenty of locations to hide in years to come, these do not deter anything away from that which I think is part of the CO intent. Just be glad there are some folks who are willing to spend their time, money and efforts to put stuff out there for YOU to find. If you don’t like it, don’t do it. If you read the descriptions, these are part of several big series of word caches taken from the letters on the signs – relating to a final puzzle. These are not my favorites, but I can see how they can be nice on a day when I am sore and can’t hike or for others who like to increase their numbers. I do agree about not maintaining them however, and I only try to put out as many as I can resonably take care of – I don’t think it is fair to ask another cacher to take care of your stuff.
