Hmmm, I wonder what I could do instead then for the “perform an action”
portion of my cache…. 🙄 I just figured most if not all would have that feature.I can tell you that I would estimate 90% of the logs I got for all the work I did (along with everyone else) at the bash were cut and paste. I try not to let it bug me, but when you spend your OWN money, and try to be really creative and put something out there fun for someone else, it is nice to hear a little more than TFTC. Just one sentence makes a difference. Nice location, good container, the hide made me smile – anything! I think it is just a nice thing to do to thank the cache owner. I have done it once or twice too, don’t get me wrong – especially if I run into a whole lot of caches that are exactly the same, I forget, but overall I really think it is nice to try and say at least something about the quality cache hides you find. It will only encourage hiders to put out more if we know we are doing a good job! Honest to goodness I even wrote to some of the people who took the time to personalize their logs and thank them, and I’m not kidding!

No, that’s a link to “Recent Updates” to the whole gallery. The West Bend Cash Ba$h photo contest album is at http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=gallery2&g2_itemId=19087&g2_highlightId=19169
Under the gallery menu is a list of sub galleries and albums.
😳 😳 😳 Sorry… not so good at that sort of thing, just trying to make it easier for folks. I’m not sure why I had such trouble finding it yesterday. Thank you! 😆
Link to get there, for some reason I had trouble finding the gallery yesterday? 😕

how do we vote on the contest. I can find the photos but do not see a ranking system on the phots.

I agree, I see no way to vote… 😳

Ok good idea, next year, new caches in the dog park ok! I’ll work on that personally – my pleasure and my dog will have fun putting them there with me – LOL! 😆
That’s the one place one of those you-got-to-be-kidding-me, doggy-did-it, stinky evil cache covers just would not last. Too many nice folks would scoop it up into a Walmart bag! 😳
LOL yeah, a fake turd would not have much of a chance out there! 😯 😕
I have seen families who cache under a team name. For instance dad goes out and hides the cache, then the wife and kids go find them and they log it. Or, each family member may start their own account and log it also. Play it how you want! If it gets people and families out of the house, doing stuff together away from the TV and video games – go for it! You are not hurting me!

Don’t know how many other Caching Teams bring their dogs, but we can’t leave them home for four days without putting them in a kennel. Our first year at the Bash, we put them in a doggy day-care kennel near West Bend, so we could get them at night. Worked good, except Jag found, and brought home fleas. Don’t do that any more.
West Bend does not allow dogs in their parks, so if it is hot, we don’t do city parks. Last year there were a couple caches in Rolph Park…a great dog park!!! About mid-day we did the caches there and had lunch. Worked great. This year no caches in the dog park.
1 or 2 caches in a dog park would be really appreciated. We enjoyed the Park series this year very much, and visited Rolph Park even without a cache there.
Thanks West Bend….good event!!!

What IF, you had to pay $5.00 to get the bag? Would you still want it OR would you take a plastic bag with all the paperwork in it and skip the color bags, which next year if the Chamber can get them would be teal.

I agree that there were some “wast of time staying here” prizes (i.e. infinite gun locks), but the geocoins, cache kins, GPSr’s and actual caching related items were great give aways in my opinion. The nonsense items should be paired up with caching items to keep the giveaway shorter and keep everyones interest, IMHO. Besides our gas and food bills, we didnt spend any money, so I think for free we shouldnt really complain too much. Besides, you all would be caching all day anyway if it was just a normal weekend, and theres no raffle at the end of those days. So its a bonus anyways. (Maybe next year they can give away the guns to go with those gun locks!) 😀
I gotta comment here. I agree this has been a free event and with goodies at the end for many to enjoy. Yeah, they gave a way a few gun locks – thanks to the Washington County Sherriff’s Department for supporting our event – seriously! It’s free stuff people! I have not been to alot of other MEGA events to see if they give away anything, but at least the Chamber offers some sort of prizes at the end for all/most to enjoy. Would you come next year if those prizes are gone???? The city is in hard times right now and 1,000 bucks is not easy to come up with. They make no money personally at the Chamber for this, the local businesses do by what we provide going there and supporting the local restaurants and merchants. That is why we are happy with any/all donations given to the caching participants in good will for us to enjoy. Just my opinion, nobody else.

In a past life I worked in the printing industry, you could in theory print the stamp card on the inside of the front and back cover, so those who want to could just take off the cover and take it alone. The cover is already 80# paper, the same as the stamp sheet, so it would cut down on the printing cost.
I just looked at the booklet. Barry, that is a really great idea. It should actually end up costing less.
I agree – great idea!

P.S. Anybody else think because we had a Lackey from groundspeak that Jeremy Irish will show up? I heard he sends one out before he actually attends and next year is 5 years…. 😯 crossing my fingers and toes!!!
I would rather have Sandy back. Much cuter than Jeremy…
They were sending Lackeys to all of the Mega Events this year so I don’t think that means anything.
I beg to differ, I think it means alot, I think they are looking for which events to have him attend next year. JMO! 😀
Is that the playing card or a cacher? 😯 Hard to tell! 😆
I was not at Players. I would like to speculate what happened. It was a rainy day, more people showed up that did not post will attend logs and they got overwhelmed. I know they had promised the large back room to Tami, and then “forgot” when they got an event there (boo to Players!).
BR Wilson, I completely agree. I looked like somebody hit me with a train usually when I am done caching. I have wanted the Chamber to ask local vendors to bring food carts OF THEIR OWN FOOD – like Subway or a pizza place, etc… I will try to get the committee to relook at the fact that these merchants could still get the benefit of the sale. I think from the merchant’s standpoint, competing against perhaps 3 or 4 other vendors for 1,600 customers may not be a financial gain for them and they are reluctant to commit to it. The numbers keep growing though and with the big 5 year celebration next year – maybe it will be enough people.
P.S. Anybody else think because we had a Lackey from groundspeak that Jeremy Irish will show up? I heard he sends one out before he actually attends and next year is 5 years…. 😯 crossing my fingers and toes!!!
