  • This is the opposite – an online log, but nothing in the cache’s physical logbook. I’m assuming what T&tB are calling a vailidity check is going out and looking at the logbook to see if anything is written there or not. If not, then they shouldn’t be getting a smiley.

We did 2 of the caches.
No, we got up there too late to enter this year.
Yes, we camped 4 nights in the area.

Since I wasn’t involved in the prizes, I can’t comment much on them other to say that everyone else’s ideas here sound good.

I was impressed by the quality of the caching experience as a whole in the area – just wanted to say that.

Sorry I won’t be able to be there. But here is a list of who has volunteered so far:

    zuma
    Grousetales
    FuFu
    Hike and Seekers
    pcfrog
    Hotdogs

    Anybody else?

I’m going to post something on the front page to try to get more recruits….

FYI: cache owners who have missing bugs listed on their cache’s page have the “mark as missing” option too. They just need to go to the bug’s page and the drop down menu appears there. Click on it and the bug will no longer show up in your cache’s inventory. Lots of people don’t realize they can do this.

I don’t know why geocaching.com doesn’t explain this better to everyone.

Sounds much like what I had a couple weeks ago. I too was afraid that it was Lyme as I had just spent a week in Eau Claire caching. But it went away – some kind of weird summer flu virus I guess. Glad your test came back negative.

We will be at #12 Friday and Saturday night.

I did a few of the Northwoods caches yesterday. They are very nice! Too bad I got up here to late for the contest, but I must say that the geocaching up here has been quite excellent! 😀

We saw three Eagles yesterday at Smokey Lake – one of them caught a fish while we were watching.

We finally brought our TB/Coin box INSIDE and only make those available when we are home (which is most of the time) but at least we know who took a particular bug or coin. This method has worked, but its a shame that its necessary.

I’m going to have to do something like this too I guess. Someone came to the TB hotel on my property and stole all the bugs (though none were coins at the time). It just made me ill.

Let’s not discuss the four whiffs on caches we’ve had the last couple weeks, though. It sucks to be the only one to whiff on a 1.5 hide! LOL

I’ve done that more times than I care to remember.

Glad I could help you get some rest!

Hemlock Draw is very nice, I got some great pic. from doing that cache.

Like I said to you at the event today, the real challenge is finding one you haven’t already done. So you need to add that as #5 on your list: A cache I haven’t already found. 😀

PM sent – I hope it helps.

And I don’t think apologies are really necessary. You did get all the bad guys after all. 😉

in reply to: Can the WGA do something about this? #1877066

greyhounder is the one who is on the front line of this issue, but as it stands right now my understanding is thay are not willing to look at allowing geocaching at this time. It’s kinda dumb seeing as how Minnesota actually encourages geocaching at their rest areas.

One of the motives of our adopt-a-highway efforts (besides the obvious CITO) is to show the DOT that we are actually good guys. Maybe it will change somebody’s mind someday.

in reply to: Are you on WI posse for the caching place quest #1875043

There was one weekend that their host server was having significant issues which had nothing to do with site volume or anything. Unfortunately, that was the time T&B and others were trying to put someone in jail.

Yep, the stars were fun. Mine turned out pretty good when you consider that I did it in a field that conatined large random patches of thistles. And I was wearing shorts.

I need to stop wearing shorts when I geocache.
