Trekkin’ is still not up to par and feels pretty sure that the next lyme titer will be positive. We just can’t do any caches that have any challenge as far as terrain, because a little climb is making every joint scream in pain (Trekkin was a marathoner, so it’s not like he’s outta shape).
He feels terrible like the flu and his joints scream in pain? I’m not a physician, but I am a veterinarian. When I see a dog that was perfectly healthy suddenly come down with those symptoms, I don’t have to run a titer – it’s Lymes.
I hope he gets what he needs soon so he can start feeling better again!
All coordinates were taken with a 60CX and averaged at least 50 times. Perhaps the fact the the coords for the mural were taken right next to a tall building with a mural on it threw them off a bit….
One of the caches in the series may be missing and it won’t get checked on until Monday – although anyone is welcome to go try to find it anyway.
But a geocacher with any experience won’t need it to find the final.

Are we a “child” now or are we “men”?
Actually, some of us are women. 😉
Always nice to hear some of the historical perspective.
The referendum was announced last weekend in the announcements thread and on the front page of the website. Anyone who hasn’t voted yet has until midnight tomorrow to do so (click on referendums in the left menu bar). The winner will be announced on Monday!
From what I can figure, they have removed the names from the treasure map and replaced them with the blinking petroglyphs. Then it seems like those spots correspond to the same symbols in the evidence file which is likely a list of those very names that you need to figure out where this is. I bet the keyword for them is given in the last puzzle piece, but some people have broken the code and figured out where the map is before hand. I’ve been trying to do that, but no luck so far.

I’m sure the board has been in full discussion on the temp cache topic. I believe it may have been mentioned before by another cacher, is there a way that the board can address GC.com to create a total with and without event cache/temp caches. This way you can know your real gc.com finds vs. your temp finds at an event. Have your cake and eat it too, as I think I’ve read here also.
Yes, the board has discussed the topic extensively…this year….last year…
Last year, before I was a board member, I submitted the idea about treating multiple event logs like benchmarks – where they would show up in your profile, but not on the count that appears in other places. Other compromises have been suggested as well. They are always totally ignored. Groundspeak keeps saying that it will not take on the role of the “logging police” so therefore it doesn’t feel like it has to do anything about it, one way or the other.

I’m not comparing the two… What I’m saying is that GC.com lets you “find” benchmarks (even though they aren’t caches) and will even show you the total on your stats page. I’d like to be able to have something similar for temps. Have some way to officially list them on the site (since you currently can’t list caches that are not permanent) so you can actually log each temp cache as what they are, and not just as multiple attended logs on the event cache page. I could see how many I’ve found on my stats page, but like benchmarks, they just wouldn’t count towards my total finds.
I posted a similar compromise on the Groundspeak forums last year. It was completely ignored of course.
I’ve done a little letterboxing on the side, especially when we head to the bristol Renn Faire every year. Cool that the one side is a stamp!
I believe that once a friends “relationship” is established, you each become listed on the other’s friends list. Right now, that only means you can contact each other easily without having to do a user name search. (No, emails are not disclosed.) Either person can then sever the relationship and you both disappear from the other’s list.
There have been hints that more friends features will arrive in the future, like possibly electing to have email notifications of your friend’s logging activity – or something like that.
There’s one in Janesville, but I don’t suppose that helps much.

NIce to see the coins at $10 instead of $20 like last time.
These are the coins that are available to everyone, although they are only making 250 of them. There will also be finishers coins – which look more like mini-trophies to me that would be engraved and are $18 I believe. Look for them in the forums.

Lightning Bug’s Mom, that’s right. Once your 7th or 13th chase begins, you have that time to find the hidden spot and solve your puzzle. The fast forward will save you how ever many hours you had left until you could arrest your criminal, and it allows you to start a new chase right away.
So it looks like a bit of strategy would be to save one of my “longer” hunts for this particular chase. For instance, I’ve got Johnny hiding at Robbers Roost so that totals a whopping 21 hours. If I get really lucky and solve the fast forward in, say 2 hours, I would get 19 hours knocked off my time??
BTW, any news yet from the doctors?
Oh yeah! COINS

I think I found our winner in Colgate (NW of Menomonee Falls). http://www.bassesfarms.com/cornmaze.html The next closest one would have been Deerfield, WI (between Madison and Milwaukee). I’ll try to get more info and perhaps set a tentative date on gc.com.
Hey! Why stop at one? Maybe we can decide on different dates for each one and hit both. 😛
My husband went to school with the guy who owns the Deerfield maze. Hmmmm, interesting thought…… How did the Basses Farms people respond to your idea?
Schuster’s Playtime Farm
They won the North American Outstanding Corn Maze Design award last year.

I have officially given up on my chance at my fast forward. I spent at least 5-6 hours looking for the solution to my puzzle. I swear I looked at every cache in that part of Utah at least three times in the process, probably more. Some people are finding theirs in no more than 15-20 minutes! I am letting this stuff get to me, and I can’t!
This scares me. I have dial-up and loading pictures takes forever. Maybe I should try to coordinate it so I can be at the library or maybe my husband’s office for this. I want to make sure I have this right. You have from the time you start your seventh (or thirteenth) chase until you complete it?

I have done Glen Rose, Racine is too far…I may have to begin this chase and hope for the best for the location req.
Bummer.
BTW, I caught Johnny Waypoint yesterday. I had to walk in to a thistle patch at one point to get him. Someday he’ll pay for that.
