Awesomeness!!!
Some historical perspective:
Back in my early days of caching, I set my sights on getting into the top 100 cachers of Wisconsin. At the point at which I accomplished this goal, (I think it was 2005) guess how many cache finds one needed.
Go ahead, guess!

250!I ranked as high as the low 70’s at one point, but it got so that I just couldn’t keep up anymore. And now that I have over 1000 finds, I rank around 150-160. Amusing, huh?
That’s a pretty good list, but I would add Deer Fly season.
So what’s the plan here Gwyn? “Carol” after the event while it’s still light and the letterbox night cache Saturday evening?
Eh, I figured it out anyway.
😀
I just can’t leave a puzzle unsolved. Especially when the alternative is cleaning the house.
My plan was to find Spaghetti, Something Technical, and maybe On Wisconsin on Saturday. Now, I haven’t solved Carol yet, but it would be great to find that one too – even though it’s not “lonely”. I’ll work on the puzzle this week and if the scheduling works out for me, I’ll tag along too.

I have a local cache in mind….I spoke to it’s owner last night. He has been watching my finds sit at 1960……several months ago he said he’d help me in my attempt at his underwater cache for my 2,000th. I’m fairly sure this area, being close to a dam, does not freeze but to be honest I’m not positive. I will have to drive out and see for myself….39 more finds, an unfrozen access point and a drysuit and I’m on it. Otherwise I will have to “settle” for getting #2,000 at a local EC. But who knows, I might get hit by a truck tomorrow and never make it to my goal. 😕
I’d love to tag along on that one! I tried to get the FTF on it last year and was told that there was no diving allowed and was forced to leave by a over zealous security person. Hours later, someone tagged the FTF. That stung like you wouldn’t believe. Let me know when you go and if you want some company…
There, now I have a goal for 2009!
Now this should be interesting, let me know when the date is, I too had aspirations of the ftf on it…
Perhaps we should get a group together and make a day of it.

…but you can use the lovely pit toilets.
Avoiding these is one of the reasons I got a camper in the first place.
If all the hook-up sites are gone already, then sign me up for a spot at the group site. Looks like I’ll be putting my new Optima Deep Cycle to the test!
Ah. I see I missed Jeremy’s info about it in another spot.

We do have the ability to accommodate a limited number of wheeled camping units (pop ups, travel trailers) on the large group sites this year. If this interests you, please contact Jeremy (jvechinski) so we can get a count for planning purposes; alternatively, the family campground in the park will be open in May and many sites are still available.
So they next question would be: are there any kind of hook-ups at the group sites or would those of us on wheels expect to be dry camping? I assume the latter, but thought I would ask.
OK, I’ll throw in my lists:
Caching Highlights of 2008:
1. 1000th cache find milestone
2. Platinum Earthcache Master (well, I qualified for it, but I haven’t submitted it yet. S’pose I ought to do that.)
3. Got DeLorme page 104 done (whew!)
4. Attended my first Mega-event (MWGB)
5. Door County caching trip with greyhounder
6. Fun in the rain at the WGA Geo-Picnic
7. The spring CITO event in Waukesha (always amazed at how much trash we find)
8. The 8 other awesome events we attended
9. Oh yeah. There was the time I went back to Gov Dodge SP to pick up a couple of my temp hides that got left behind after the campout. The skies opened up to drench me as soon as I arrived, but the best part was when some insect bit me on the eyelid and my whole eye swelled shut. That was fun. (I know that doesn’t compare to some other’s misfortunes, but still….it was memorable.)Goals for 2009:
1. Finish the DeLorme Challenge
2. Finish the Wisconsin County Challenge
3. Get back to MWGB
4. Keep finding Lonely Caches when I can
5. Make new caching friends
6. More events!Because the shipping party had to be postponed a couple days, a skeleton crew of only three cattle rustlers were able to be there last night. Jeremy brought postage labels, extra bubble wrap, and a branding iron; Tie provided the ranch space and the hauling truck to get the little dogies delivered; and I brought the herd of cows, bubble mailers, and a lasso. We wrangled and wrestled all that cattle for about three hours so that hopefully most of them will make it to their new families in time for the holidays.
Whew – I’m glad that’s done. Now I gotta get all that manure off my boots.
The herd has arrived in Wisconsin and should be on the way to their individual farms by Wednesday.
That is kind of ironic, what with ECs having no container to hold coins. But there are plenty of coins out there that hardly relate to geocaching at all, so why not?
I’m not the geocoin collecting hound I used to be, but I’ll try to get a few of these.
There will be a limited number available for sale at the WGA events next year.
