Gentle reminder: links are nice so people can see what you are talking about.

Hmmm, I’ll be getting up that way this summer. Will put it on my to-do list.
Runs from Cottage Grove (east of Madison) all the way to Waukesha.
Link worked for me just fine~
What are those – alewives?
I got to see samples of these beauties at the event last weekend. The pictures do not do them justice!

It appears that nobody has picked up the egg from Emily’s cache V in Helenville yet.
Crud – I drove by there twice this week. I didn’t realize it was the Helenville one.

I would be interested in comparing caching activity in say Chippewa Cty versus Dane Cty parks. Can we show some differences there?

All,
Just got done making reservations for the campout. I had a question so I sent a email to the park manager (I think he’s on the boards here as well). He replied with the following information, please note this is NOT done yet but is in the works and is planned to be done by the campout!
Quote from the email:
“Another thing to keep in mind is we are currently in the process of
electrifying sites 65 – 87 in the family campground. If you call
Reserve America or look on the website these sites will not reflect
they have electricity. The expected date these will become available
with electricity is May 1st. Therefore if you want to take a chance
and reserve one of these sites you most likely would have electricity
when you come to camp. Keep in mind if you choose to do this you will
need to notify the attendant when you get here that you intend to use
electricity during your stay and will have to pay that portion of your
camping when you arrive (an extra $5/night).”YES! I just picked #66 out of a hat when I made reservations. Woot! Woot!
Well, I hope this is an isolated incident that will eventually blow over. Aside from the privacy issue, my main concern is the attitude of the DNR. The WGA has worked very hard to keep them happy. If more incidents like this cause them to start feeling like having geocaches is more trouble than it is worth – we would find ourselves dealing with some serious issues down the road.
I’m just sayin’….
I agree with pcfrog. There is no reason why any cachers other than approvers should be bothering the DNR about these forms. If it is truly someone just wanting the answers to your puzzles, that is just wrong, wrong, wrong! I wonder if there is some other possible reason we are not considering? Possibly someone is looking to place a cache and wants to know what places to avoid? I dunno…..
Regardless, if the DNR is legally compelled to do this, is there anything about the process we can change to prevent this problem in the future?
I think I’ve told this story before, but I will repeat it here:
Last year, during the night caching at the campout – remember the drizzle and the trees – my 60CS WOULD NOT hold a signal – ever – the whole evening! (It never did like night-time anyways.) It was maddening.
My mom was with me and had her new 60CSX. It had NO PROBLEM holding a signal under those conditions. Within two weeks, I had my 60CX and have not looked back. (I didn’t get a CSX because I never used the “S” features.)
Now, I use the 60CS for mapping in the car – it usually works fine for that. But it rarely ever leaves the cachemobile during caching runs.
I think people are a little focused on the camp-out right now, but it is not too soon to start thinking about the picnic planning. Like Tie said, the committee will determine where the picnic is. So if any members want to be a part of that decision (and more! See Pink’s list…), they need to volunteer – you don’t have to wait until after the campout.
