So, outside of the internet, how is this event being promoted?
Whatever weekend you pick, there will be people who can’t go. My daughter’s big dance recital weekend is always the third weekend in May. So if you have it then, we probably can’t go. Such is life.

* * * * * * * * * *Hi Eddie,
I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say that we are pretty proud of the caching in our state and we’re glad you had a great experience! Hope you can come back soon.Whoever finds your coin will be very lucky – it’s a great looking geocoin (I know I like mine).

litleflrt: Got it!
marc_54140: yes, I think I can find you a few. Please send a message to me at the email I mentioned above in my second post (teamlightningbugs at yahoo dot com).
OK, if anyone else is out there thinking of getting some, you can post your interest here, but I’ll need an email from you too.

You hit the nail on the head Cathunter. There is no prize for having the highest numbers. GC.com hosts a database and they have rules for what kinds of caches are allowed in that database. Being able to log finds in their database is a service they provide to the geocaching community. But they have clearly stated that they are not the logging police and never will be.
If I find a quality temporary cache that I deem worthy of permanent status, which is the majority of them, then I will log it. I like my numbers to reflect what I have done out there with my GPSr. But now I wish I had the option of making my find numbers private. Not because I feel I’ve done anything wrong, but just to make the point that this is not a competition. My find count should be meaningful to me and nobody else.
Frankly, I’m used to being judged by the vocal self-rightous for refusing to conform to what they think is right. But when people like Criminal start calling me and my friends cheaters, it really starts to get my hackles up. (This comment is not directed at any specific individual participating in this forum.)

* * * * * * * * * *I’ve always wanted to go caching in Bong. I might be able to be there as well. Depends on a scout thing that day – I’ll see what I can do.

* * * * * * * * * *Well, I feel asleep so I missed it, but I read the online article….
The geocacher’s name is Steve Biedermann and he has 40 finds. Does that ring any bells for anyone?
Where did that figure of 80,000 geocachers in Wisconsin come from? That seems like an awful lot. But then that might explain why so many people showed up at my breakfast event.

Ah! It might help if I actually read my email instead of just filing it away. Thanks.
